Al-Qaeda suspect dies of wounds

A SUSPECTED member of Al-Qaeda, Mohammed Abdul Rahman al-Suwailmi, captured on Tuesday after bloody clashes with Saudi police in the central Qassim province, has died of his wounds, an interior ministry spokesman said.

In a communique quoted by the official SPA news agency the spokesman said a second suspect was being sought by security forces after hijacking a car occupied by women in the sector where the clashes took place.

Suwailmi "succumbed to his wounds and it turned out that he was wanted by the security authorities," the spokesman said.

He ranked number seven on the list of the 36 most wanted militant suspects in Saudi Arabia.

"He is considered as one of the terrorist leaders," a security source said.
