Observers of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo school district weren’t surprised by Thursday’s FBI raid on the district’s offices and the homes of several district officials. Neither are we, other than wondering, "What took so long?" That’s a bit of a rhetorical question, as we understand that federal investigations can move very slowly. But it was business as usual Friday for the administrative offices of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo school district and the Pharr Housing Authority. PHARR — FBI agents descended upon the entire framework of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo school district Thursday, searching offices and homes and toting away boxes of documents. At the administrative building on the corner of Gumwood Street and U.S. Business 83, agents were holed up all day searching the central offices. District officials were not allowed into the building. Locked doors and signs saying business would resume today were the only explanations offered to district employees and other visitors for what was going on inside. PHARR, Texas- Federal agents today raided the offices of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo independent school district and confiscated documents. Authorities aren't saying what led to the raids, other than the activity is part of an ongoing investigation. A statement from the U.S. attorney's office says the federal agents also carried out "law enforcement action" at other locations associated with the school district.
