  • House Republicans fire shots at McConnell in court fight over proxy voting

Ten House Republicans, led by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), argued on Wednesday to an appellate court that the House’s pandemic-era proxy voting rules were unconstitutional and pointedly accused Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) of flip-flopping his position on them. The lawmakers made the arguments in an amicus brief, authored by Mountain States Legal Foundation attorneys, after McConnell submitted his own brief in a case that could upend a $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill that Congress passed in December 2022. “Amici are especially concerned that other members of Congress, such as Senate Minority Leader McConnell, have urged this Court to...
  • BlackRock’s illusion of choice: Are investors truly empowered — or manipulated?

Likely based on the attention given to its control of proxy voting, BlackRock has unveiled what it calls “a new proxy voting opportunity in iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV).” The multinational investment giant notes that this particular product is its largest and among the most widely held exchange-traded fund. While giving individual investors a say in the votes related to their holdings is a good thing, this new scheme on closer inspection appears to be a way for BlackRock to push climate and social-related policies while making it seem like clients voted for them. Very sneaky. Following U.N. guidance...
  • VIDEO: Vote Fraud Harshly Punished in India

VIDEOOne of the big problems with vote fraud in the USA is that the courts hand out light or no sentences for that crime. As a result vote fraud continues in a big way (looking at YOU Maricopa County) since there are almost no consequences involved. Contrast that to what happened to this guy in the West Bengal section of India where villagers caught him casting multiple fake proxy votes and ended up tying him to a pole and giving him the third degree treatment. Do you think that guy will be committing vote fraud again anytime soon?
  • Texas AG Ken Paxton Sues POTUS Over ‘Unlawful’ Signing Of $1.7 Trillion Omnibus Spending Bill

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit Wednesday against President Biden for what he describes as the “unlawful” signing of the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 bill, supported by just nine House Republicans, was passed days before Christmas with more than half of the members absent and voting by proxy. Paxton’s case contends that the U.S. Constitution mandates a quorum be present to vote on legislation, without which the House can only “adjourn from day to day” and “compel the attendance of absent Members,” making the bill’s passage illegitimate. “Though President Biden signed...
  • GOP Rep. Cammack: ‘Hypocrisy at Its Finest’ to Kill Title 42 While House Still Proxy Votes Due to COVID

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Kudlow,” Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) criticized House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for extending proxy voting in the House due to the coronavirus pandemic while Title 42 is set to expire. Cammack said, “This is absolutely nuts. The double standard in Washington, it just never ceases to amaze me. You know, Nancy Pelosi, just a few weeks ago, put out a statement saying that we needed to extend proxy voting in Congress because of the health emergency, that members weren’t able to cast their ballots and their votes in person. So, you’ve...

Nancy Pelosi extended the controversial proxy voting capability until October 1, allowing more time for abuse. "In light of the attached notification by the Sergeant-at-Arms, in consultation with the Office of Attending Physician, that a public health emergency is in effect due to a novel coronavirus, I am hereby extending the “covered period” designated on January 4, 2021, pursuant to section 3(s) of House Resolution 8, until October 1, 2021." Proxy voting has been in place in the House for members to use for over a year. Proxy voting was only supposed to be in effect for 45 days during...

House Republicans asked a federal judge Tuesday to intervene and block Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s designated-voter plans, which would allow members to give cast votes on legislation on the House floor by proxy during the coronavirus crisis. Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the top Republican, said proxy-voting — which was expected to be used for the first time ever in votes this week — breaks with 231 years of House history. Under the new rules, which Mrs. Pelosi pushed through the chamber earlier this month, lawmakers are allowed to designate a colleague to vote in their stead during floor action. As of Tuesday...
