Protests broke out in Rochester, N.Y., following the release Wednesday of police body-camera footage of a Black man who died after being injured during his arrest last March. Daniel Prude was arrested by Rochester Police in the early hours of March 23, after his brother, concerned for Prude’s safety, had called 911. Prude, 41, had left his brother’s house in below-freezing weather wearing long johns and a tank top. Protests erupted in Rochester Wednesday following the release of police body-cam video of a black man who reportedly suffocated after cops put a “spit hood” over his head during his arrest — as his family called for the officers involved to be charged with murder, according to reports. Nine people were arrested after protesting the death of Daniel Prude, 41, the Democrat & Chronicle reported. The protests began small at the Monroe County Public Safety Building but grew larger throughout the day before police fired pepper spray and tear gas into a crowd outside police headquarters, according to NPR.
