Despite the temptation, Trump is wise not to send in the troops into Democrat-run cities – yet

Democrats, through Antifa and Black Lives Matter, have engaged in urban warfare for months now.  They caused five hundred million dollars of damage in Minneapolis, turned six blocks of Seattle into warlord territory, repeatedly looted Chicago's businesses, reduced some sectors of Portland into a scene out of a third-world civil war, and tried to wipe out Kenosha's business sector.  Yet Trump has held his fire, refraining from sending in massed federal troops.  Believe it or not, this is a wise decision.

From the day Trump became the Republican nominee in 2016, the left framed him as a Hitlerian fascist.  It didn't matter that Hitler was a socialist and Trump a conservative.  They ignored that fascism, like all forms of socialism, is based upon complete government control ("Everything within the state; nothing outside the state; nothing against the state," as Mussolini explained), while Trump has relentlessly worked to shrink the government and limit its power.

The Hitler narrative also overlooked Trump's long history of not being racist.  Democrats didn't care that, until the moment he became a serious candidate, Trump was famously popular among New York's blacks for the job opportunities he provided and for his generosity.  Nor did it matter to them that Trump's most beloved child had converted to Judaism.  The media latched onto the "fine people hoax" as a lifeline, which is why Biden repeats it obsessively to this day.

For four years, Trump has been steadily chipping away at the Hitler narrative.  He hasn't started wars (unlike all past presidents).  LGBT people are not in concentration camps.  Reporters are getting an earful for their disgraceful behavior, but he's not spying on them, imprisoning them, or killing them.

TOWNHALL COLUMNIST Kurt Schlichter explains in an important post, based upon his experience as a colonel in the California Army National Guard during earthquakes, riots, and fires, it's very difficult for Trump to send troops to cities and states that don't want him, even if he invokes the Insurrection Act.  The logistics are complicated enough if the beleaguered city governments invite him.  If they don't, just getting to the city becomes a full military action.  When the troops hit the streets, it's an invasion.

It's no use, either, likening any effort Trump makes to Eisenhower's reluctant decision to send the 101st Airborne to Little Rock after the Supreme Court decided Brown v. Board of Education.  In that case, Eisenhower had been negotiating with Gov. Orval Faubus — who had been using the Arkansas National Guard to block the Little Rock Nine's access to their high school — to give the students safe passage instead.  When Faubus reneged on the agreement, Eisenhower felt he had to act, to save face not just in America, but before the world.

Additionally, when Eisenhower acted, he had some advantages Trump lacks.  Outside the South, both the American people and, more importantly, the media supported desegregation.  Eisenhower was also a respected military man.  Finally, Eisenhower was dealing with a one-on-one showdown in a specific location (a school) with the limited mandate of guarding students.

None of these advantages exists here — especially the last.  Trump would be required to send troops to multiple American cities and then have his troops engage in active warfare with violent citizens in the streets.

Things are going to get interesting after the election - especially if Trump wins. If the democrat leftists ramp it up, he’s going to go all in with troops, IMO. And there will be actual lead flying.

Situations like the Kyle case and the guy they just shot and killed in Lacy are all the justification they need. Watch for it.

I would like to think Antifa and BLM is smart enough to get that. We’ll see.

RE: I would like to think Antifa and BLM is smart enough to get that.

Not only do they GET that, they are smart enough to know that they have to PREVENT Trump from winning so that it will NOT happen.

Hence, this is MORE INCENTIVE to make sure that the the elections go THEIR WAY ( by hook or by crook ).

Be prepared for CHAOS after the November elections.

After the election, I’d like to see Trump’s DOJ arrest mayors of the more troubled cities for “Aidin’ and abettin’”.

And I believe a strong case can be made, via evidence like this: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3880837/posts

Remember the reaction when Trump sent federal agents into Portland? The left went berserk, that he was sending in “storm troopers”. They charged that the violence was being instigated by Trump having sent in those federal forces.

Ok, fine, you Democrat mayors and governors, you handle it yourselves. Trump withdrew federal agents from Portland, and the violence continues. So much for the myth that somehow Trump caused violence by his actions.

Exactly right. Now is not the time. Win first, make further plans later. Federalizing local police is the exact right move. Then those antifa/BLM thugs when arrested, will have their trials in the federal courts where they can get long, long sentences rather than released to wreak more havoc by some Soros paid DA who drops charges. Trump is playing it perfectly, considering the hand he’s been dealt.

The NG can’t do a thing in those cities.
IT is a “nonpermissive environment” meaning the local government will not support or will even oppose the NG’s efforts to clean things up.
The local cops and DA won’t jail or try anyone they arrest. They will cut the NG off from basic services like power, water, and medical care. The NG would have to operate like they were an occupying force in an enemy country.
Bad optics, and bad for the NG.
Just let those cities burn until the local government asks for help and promises, IN WRITING, to cooperate with and support the Guard.
Yeah, it’s hard on the folks who didn’t vote for the local government. My heart really breaks for folks like a salon owner who had her business burned, and then the city demolished the building and handed her a BILL for $200,000!

Unfortunately I know your are correct. Although:

Events as late as yesterday with Trump saying to pull funding from these renegade city mayors has a few of them starting to grow a backbone. We will see if they actually have one? Oregon Governor Pens Joint Letter Calling For An End To The Violence In Portland https://www.kxl.com/oregon-governor-pens-joint-letter-calling-for-an-end-to-the-violence-in-portland/

In many ways Trump is leading from behind...to borrow an Obama theme. Rogue or Renegade states can lose their funding if they fail to take action to perform their sworn duty to ‘protect.’

If Trump wins in November I anticipate DC will be a very, very dangerous place to be for months on end. Heck the Mayor has called for the removal of several more memorials. But, Trump has an upper-hand here in a number of ways. He could call in the guard and defend to small plot of land, he could recess congress until they are ready to work cooperatively, he can declare a national emergency with all the rights and privileges afforded such an action. And he could order the relocation of the Capitol.

I guess my point being from a strategic perspective, Trump holds all the options as of right now. His patience is in waiting for the Democrats to fully commit to their mistake. I think that has something to do with the Art of War.

. Eisenhower was also a respected military man.

Perhaps, but more importantly he knew exactly what needed to be done to sustain troops on the ground as an effective force and every otherwise weak-willed or insubordinate military officer in the chain knew that a BS response to an order would be the end of a career.

After the election, DAs should be charged under the RICO laws.

I agree. Antifa and BLM desperately wanted a Kent State moment and did everything they could to lure Trump into the blue city morass. Fortunately, he was too smart to take the bait.

While its been frustrating to watch the violence and anarchy, Trump deserves tremendous credit for his restraint. If he does react at some point it will probably be AFTER some outrageous event that necessitates a strong federal response.

Antifa and BLM want a massacre. They want their Kent State moment.
This would help their recruiting and give them the excuse they need to break out their weapons (you don’t think all those gun sales were to ordinary decent folks, do you?) and ramp up the violence into a guerrilla war.
I expect that if this happens we will find out that outside sources have provided heavy weapons - LMGs, RPGs, etc. - to the BLM and Antifa.

Let the choas run right up til election day, then a couple of days prior go on TV formally offering to send in federal troops to stop it. That would make the election a referendum on law and order vs. Democrats enabling the insurrection at a time when the maximum number of people are paying attention.

Let them burn and be destroyed. People voted for these unqualified pukes, they now must be faced with the results of electing such feckless losers or they will never learn.
And AMERICA certainly doesn’t need to pay for them to clean up their mess.

Very very smart move by Trump. They flipped when he didn’t even do anything and showed their hand.
He learned quickly that every attempt to quell the riots would be reported as totalitarianism.
