A double-lung transplant patient who contracted a mold infection during his stay at UPMC Presbyterian, sued the hospital for negligence today, claiming the hospital could have prevented the infection. Che DuVall, 70, of Perryopolis, joined by his wife, Karen, sued the hospital in Allegheny Count Common Pleas Court, in a 21-page lawsuit that outlines a series of what his attorneys claim are missteps that led to him contracting rhizopus mucormycosis because of UPMC's own policies.
