Homeschooling is now a driving force behind one of the fastest-growing sports in America: Ninja Warrior. While American physical education programs demonstrably fail the nation’s K-12 students, Christian homeschoolers have found an alternative that’s proven far more effective. The result is that homeschooling is now a driving force behind one of the fastest-growing sports in America: Ninja Warrior.Since 2009, NBC has broadcast a U.S. version of the Japanese sports reality show “Sasuke” as “American Ninja Warrior.” The dynamic obstacles require a level of skilled athleticism far beyond the basic programming of K-12 gymnasiums. The courses’ difficulties have made both the triumphs...

No Red Rover? Physical education teachers in Alabama should avoid such recess staples as tag, dodgeball and Duck, Duck Goose due to the games' lack of physical stimulation and high chance of embarrassment for students, according to a guidance document from the Alabama State Department of Education. AUM share sets off social media debate The documented, first posted two-years ago but updated this week, was shared Tuesday by the Auburn University at Montgomery Physical Education Program and quickly spread on social media. The document has since been removed from the ALSDE website, however, much of it remains in the Alabama...

A physical education teacher at a San Carlos middle school is behind bars today, suspected of videotaping female students as they changed clothes, the San Carlos Police Department reported. San Bruno resident Neal Sato, 34, was arrested today after an approximately six-week-long investigation into the Central Middle School teacher's alleged improper behavior, the Police Department reported. Police first became aware of the situation after an eighth-grade student reported that she believed Sato, who also serves as the school's athletics director, had secretly been videotaping her while she changed clothes. After obtaining a search warrant, police detectives reportedly seized computers belonging...

BRADENTON -- Stash the basketballs, the kick balls and jump ropes. And don't even think about breaking a sweat in the new era of physical education class in some elementary schools. Twelve plastic cups are all that's needed for the latest craze in some elementary school gym classes. In sport stacking, kids arrange eight-ounce cups into pyramids and collapse them into nested stacks at lightning speeds. The fastest time wins. Sound easy? Maybe a little, shall we say, stupid? "We're the first to admit it sounds pretty goofy and pretty silly," said Bob Fox, a former Colorado gym teacher who...

I recently read an article on the Fox News website about higher percentages of children being overweight and how this trend is evidence that our education system is failing our children in physical education. The article had the standard statistics about percentages of students who take phys. ed. and the standard stories about most classes being games where athletic kids dominate and non-athletic kids stand quietly and inactively to the side. I don't remember specific recommendations, but the implication was that we should demand that schools offer better physical education and demand that kids be required to take these classes....
