BELLINGHAM,Wash. -- Local businessman Paul Akers has announced his candidacy for the US Senate. He's running for the post currently held by Patty Murray. Akers is president and founder of Fast Cap in Bellingham. He also hosts a talk show Saturday mornings on KGMI radio. He has no previous political experience. Akers says he supports only legislation that "cuts costs, reduces waste and provides value." He says he was not planning to announce his candidacy this early, but national conservative activist Dick Morris broadcast the news on the Sean Hannity radio show Friday.
