Iran wins seats on four UN commissions, a considerable achievement for the Islamic Republic as two of the organizations deal with global human rights issues. The commissions include the high profile UN commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) and the world body's Human Settlements Program, also known as UN-HABITAT. The two others are the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) and the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII).
