As the saying goes, Socialists: You can vote them in, but you have to shoot them out. We’re watching an extreme example of that saying play out right now in Venezuela. The U.S. press seems remarkably uninterested in events in Venezuela following its presidential election held July 28. Likely that’s because those events show just how much a determined election fixer can get away with when he controls all the levers of power in a country and is in a position to block and stymie any investigation into election fraud. There are clear lessons from that for the upcoming U.S....

Well, this was a bit unexpected, given what Trump supporters have been implying about what Trump’s Ukraine policy would be. Far from cutting off funds or ending the war (the latter of which Trump has indeed promised), Trump, at a rally, told the audience that the US has been bearing a disproportionate portion of the cost and he would pressure European governments to increase their own contributions to the same level as the United States. Given that this is Trump, I wouldn’t call this an iron-clad-take-it-to-the-bank promise to keep pouring billions of dollars into Ukraine’s war coffers, but it does...

Author Douglas Murray has slammed an article labelling English novelist George Orwell as homophobic. “None of this stuff is at all unknown – George Orwell in human being, shocker!” he told Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi. “This is just an attempt to grab headlines by the author in question.” Mr Murray praised George Orwell for contributing some of the most important works of the 20th century, some of the most important journalism and some of the most important fiction. "Perhaps as a gay man, maybe I have some privilege to say this – I don’t give a damn that...

Former Vice President Dick Cheney calls former President Donald Trump a "coward" and argues that Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming is "fearless," as he stars in the latest ad released by his daughter’s re-election campaign. "In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him," the elder Cheney says in the ad, which the younger Cheney started running on Thursday, a week and a half before...

[H/T COUNTrecount]All they have to do is answer a few questions we have.Steve KirschApr 22 OverviewEveryone agrees: COVID misinformation is a serious problem. But all the methods the authorities have used to try to address the problem attempt to censor our speech. That won’t work. It will never work. It is not how America wants these disputes resolved.Instead, if the authorities really want to stop the so-called “misinformation spreaders,” all they have to do is create a document or video that answers the questions we have. If we find the answers compelling, we'll happily stop spreading “misinformation” and promote the...

Jeff Bezos’ personal security team has launched an investigation into how his text messages ended up in The National Enquirer, and the inquiry is increasingly convinced that political motives are behind the disclosure. The investigation is taking place independent of Amazon, and Bezos, the world’s richest man, is personally funding it. Investigators want to know who leaked the texts that publicly blew up Bezos’ marriage earlier this month by revealing, in lurid detail, his affair with Los Angeles news anchor Lauren Sanchez. The leaked text messages contained flowery missives from Bezos such as “I want to smell you, I want...

Recently, two Freepers who have some measure of prominance outside the forum have been damaged by liberals and/or Democrats. Jeff Gannon has resigned as a White House reporter, and the individual who goes by the name NCPAC has left his position in Maryland. J. Gannon wasn't necessarily damaged by anything he posted here, but NCPAC was damaged by the work of a Democrat mole or a Washington Post reporter who revealed his freepmails. It should be possible to post on this forum with anonymity and to be able to really discuss what's on your mind without worrying about Democrats trying...
