Anthony Rupp in 2016 after he cursed at a police officer for nearly hitting two pedestrians. Now, after an already extensive legal battle, a federal appeals court has denied the officers qualified immunity, paving the way for a successful suit against the officers.</p>

Chicago’s top prosecutor apologized Wednesday because an attorney who works under her implied in court that 13-year-old Adam Toledo was holding a gun when a police officer fatally shot him, and she acknowledged that neither she nor anyone in her office tried to clear up the matter until right before video was released showing that wasn’t actually the case. The Cook County state’s attorney’s office came under fire after the April 15 release of body camera video showing that Toledo either dropped or tossed the gun less than a second before Officer Eric Stillman shot and killed him early on...

A riot has erupted in Philadelphia after a black male was shot by police after charging at officers with a knife. The shooting took place shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday, and footage of the incident quickly went viral on social media. The man, Walter Wallace, was pronounced dead at the hospital. “Officers ordered him several times to drop the weapon,” Philadelphia Police Sergeant Eric Gripp said. “He did not do so.”

The family of a 51-year-old man who screamed 20 times that police were killing him has settled a wrongful-death lawsuit with the city of Oakland. The Oakland Tribune reports Wednesday that Hernan Jaramillo also wailed that he couldn't breathe repeatedly before he died in 2013. LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The parents of a 19-year-old Winnetka man who was fatally shot by police following a late-night chase through the San Fernando Valley filed a $120 million federal lawsuit Monday against the city and Los Angeles Police Department. Abdul Arian was shot several of times by Los Angeles police around 10 p.m. April 11 after he led officers on a high-speed pursuit that ended on the Ventura (101) Freeway near Woodland Hills.
