Today Show's veteran chief medical correspondent Dr Nancy Snyderman announced her departure Thursday, months after she sparked a controversy by violating a quarantine upon her return from covering the Ebola epidemic in Africa. In a statement released this morning, Snyderman, 62, said that her decision to leave NBC was partially informed by her desire to return to her medical ‘roots.’ However, she noted that the Ebola scandal also played a role in her resignation.

If you were just dying for soup -- and you were NBC medical editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman, bent on breaking an Ebola quarantine that you figured didn't really apply to you because you're so special -- what soup would it be? Ginger sweet potato? Cream of tomato? White beans & escarole? Thai hot & sour with shrimp? Split pea? Roasted eggplant, fennel & leek? These are just some of the famed delicious soups sold at The Peasant Grill in Hopewell, N.J., a place known for its fabulous soups. But owner Michelle Klein told me she would not comment on Snyderman's...

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal on Friday called on the Obama administration to impose a travel ban on flights coming to the U.S. from countries with Ebola outbreaks. “We should stop accepting flights from countries that are Ebola stricken,” the Republican governor said in a statement. “President Obama said it was ‘unlikely’ that Ebola would reach the U.S. Well, it has, and we need to protect our people,” he added. “But the Obama administration keeps saying they won’t shut down flights. They instead say we should listen to ‘the experts.’ In fact, they said it would be counterproductive to stop these...

Let no one say that NBC/MSNBC are reluctant to criticize ObamaCare. A leading NBC light boldly did so today . . . from the left, of course. Appearing on Morning Joe, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, NBC's chief medical editor, declared that there should be "a single-payer system" of health care. That is the left's preferred solution, but brings with it a host of problems, as the Heritage Foundation has detailed. For good measure, Snyderman said that she "made" her young-adult children sign up for Obamacare as their "patriotic duty." View the video here.

If only the little people would stop clinging to their freedom, the elites could improve their lives so much . . . During the push for ObamaCare, MSNBC gave Dr. Nancy Snyderman her own show to promote the cause. The show ended shortly after the passage of the law, but Dr. Nancy's still around, supporting other politicians in their quest for more control over people's lives. On Morning Joe today, Snyderman celebrated New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, claiming he showed real leadership by imposing a ban on big sodas. Snyderman sniffed off opponents of the law as simply having...

On Friday's NBC Today, chief MEDICAL editor Nancy Snyderman explained to viewers that it's just good science to abort an unborn child that may have a genetic disorder, explaining that testing for such conditions, "gives parents a chance to decide whether they're going to continue that pregnancy or not. This is the science of today." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump] Snyderman then predicted: "I think the future will be such that you'll find out that your child may have a genetic hit. You can fix that genetic problem, and improve your chance, a child's...

MSNBC's Nancy Snyderman attacked Catholic bishops on Thursday for opposing abortion funding in the health care bill, agreeing with the President of NOW that the IRS should investigate them. The "Dr. Nancy" host also complained, "This is going to be a Pollyannaish statement. The Catholic bishops appearing and having a political voice seems to be a most fundamental violation of church and state." Terry O’Neill, the President of the National Organization for Women, quickly concurred: "You know, that's the first thing that I said. I don't know where the Internal Revenue Service is, but I hope they're paying attention." Snyderman...

Nancy Snyderman—huge fencing fan? Ping-pong aficionado perhaps? I mean, what could explain the doctor being so down in the dumps over Chicago's loss of the Olympic games? Here's how a crestfallen Snyderman opened her MSNBC show today: "A profound loss for Chicago . . . a stunning blow to the United States . . . I'm one of those people who is profoundly disappointed. I can't hide this one." There's video after the break that should give a hint to the real answer . . .

Talk about an empathetic doctor, someone who really feels her guy's pain . . . On her MSNBC show this afternoon, here's how Dr. Nancy Snyderman described her reaction to Rep. Joe Wilson's "you lie!": "It was a gut punch to me." Snyderman was kibitzing Pres. Obama's health care speech to Congress with NBC chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd. View video here.

Of all the Obama cheerleaders in the MSM, could there possibly be one more devoted than Dr. Nancy? On her MSNBC show today, Snyderman bemoaned to a White House aide that the push for ObamaCare had been "going so well" till it was hijacked by rumors, innuendoes and "lies." Snyderman was chatting with White House advisor Melody Barnes, who didn't seem to take the possible defeat as hard as did her host . . . View video here.

"Frightening" is how Dr. Nancy Snyderman described it when MSNBC spotted a man openly carrying a holstered handgun near a New Hampshire town hall meeting where President Obama was scheduled to speak. Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy The message could not be more clear. A citizen exercising his or her Constitutionally guaranteed right is a scary threat. And even if they don't have bad intent, they're just not competent enough to have guns. Why, at another event in Arizona, someone dropped a gun, Dr. Nancy tells us, the implication being none of us...

Did someone make this "Declare Your Devotion To a Dem Day" at MSNBC? You have to wonder. During the network's noon hour, Dr. Nancy Snyderman declared herself a "big fan" of HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Not to be outdone, during the following hour Andrea Mitchell ended her interview with Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Ia.) by thanking him profusely—and I mean at length—for having pushed through passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act 19 years ago today. View video here.

Conservatives are used to hearing liberals gloat about how the island paradise that is Cuba provides free health care to its fortunate denizens. Apparently there's now yet another country that we have to look up to: Rwanda. On her MSNBC show this afternoon, Dr. Nancy Snyderman proclaimed herself "jealous" of Rwanda, which reportedly provides health insurance coverage to 90% of its citizens. Snyderman's guest was Mary Robinson. The former President of Ireland is now in charge of "the Ethical Globalization Initiative" at the hoity-toity Aspen Institute. Snyderman seemed intent on drawing her guest into making invidious comparisons between the US...

You might say smoke was coming out of my ears . . . There was NBC's Dr. Nancy Snyderman this morning, arguing that the Pentagon should prohibit soldiers in combat zones from smoking. Snyderman was a guest on Morning Joe for purposes of reporting on her interview of Pres. Obama yesterday on his health care plans. But along the way, she weighed in on the proposal that had been floated, then quickly snuffed, by the Defense Department to deny combat soldiers the right to light up. Mika Brzezinski was grateful for an ally in the fight against letting warriors make...

At one point during her new MSNBC show today, Dr. Nancy Snyderman proclaimed: "the White House, their health care agenda continues to be our agenda." Snyderman would probably say she meant it only in terms of the subject matter the show will cover, not its point of view. But she was, if unintentionally, revealing a larger truth. Just in time for the Obama admin's push on health care, MSNBC has rolled out a show that loyally supports the Obama plan, right down to the call for nationalization via the so-called "public option." With CNN’s Sanjay Gupta having taken himself out of the running, could NBC’s Dr. Nancy Snyderman be positioning herself to be named Surgeon General in the Obama administration? Seriously. I ask because given the chance to question Janet Napolitano today, Snyderman, NBC’s chief medical correspondent, prefaced her inquiry with glowing praise for the Director of Homeland Security and the Obama admin at large. JOE SCARBOROUGH: Dr. Nancy Snyderman, do you have a question? View video here.

With Mika Brzezinski off in the south of France, it looks like Morning Joe has recruited Nancy Snyderman as the show’s reliably liberal voice. Yesterday, as noted here, NBC’s Chief Medical Editor came out squarely for universal health care [and rationing]. Today, Snyderman blamed California’s financial woes on Prop 13–the measure that capped property taxes in the state. NANCY SNYDERMAN: I lived in California for 17 years, and I think the 60s boom was hurt in large part by Prop 13. It froze property taxes. The lauded California [inaudible] went under – That stirred Joe Scarborough into action . ....

Even as the economy continues to reel, Pres. Obama apparently intends to push–under the guise of “fiscal responsibility“–his plans for universal health care. It looks like he will be able to count on support from at least one of the broadcast networks . . . Dr. Nancy Snyderman, NBC’s Chief Medical Editor, has come out forcefully for universal health care. And she has made clear that rationing of end-of-life care to seniors should be part of the program. View video.
