Ankara - The Sudanese government has dismissed international criticism of the promotion Musa Hilal, a Janjaweed militia leader, to a senior government position. Mr Hilal has been appointed as an adviser to the federal affairs ministry. The Janjaweed militias have been accused of orchestrating the violence in Sudan's western Darfur region and have been blamed for terrorising its black population. Human rights groups claim that the Janjaweed militias are led by Mr Hilal. Sudanese President Omar Bashir claims that the Janjaweed leader will contribute to the stability and security in Darfur.
