We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elect a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons whether it's the fiction of duct tape or the fiction of orange alerts. We are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush. Shame on you. --Filmmaker Michael Moore, accepting for best documentary feature.

BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE Documentary or Fiction? The first misconception to correct about Michael Moore's The Big One is that it is a documentary. It's not Moore doesn't make those. As was proven after the release of Moore's debut, Roger & Me, the director uses real people, places, and circumstances, then stages events (see Harlan Jacobson's piece in the November/ December 1989 Film Comment for more details). Reality a fragile commodity in any "fact-based" motion picture takes a back seat to what will play well on a movie screen. As a result, it's best to consider Moore's films...

What if Michael Moore wins the Oscar on Sunday for his documentary? He might want to say some nasty things about US and Prez Bush...How would the audience react to his acceptance speech in the Kodak Theater? Standing ovations? Would anyone walk out after feeling disgusted by Michael Moore's comments?

Alright, while Oprah did a good job last year on Iraq, today she decided to "blame America first," giving liberals...including wacked out Michael Moore...a forum to give their opinions. Staying true to liberalism, the show was all about how America caused 9-11 and we are responsible, not the terrorists. Sick! Let's let our opinion be known! Here's how to contact Oprah: Phone: 312-633-1000 E-mail page links: http://www.oprah.com/email/tows/email_tows_main.jhtml http://www.oprah.com/email/reach/email_reach_fromu.jhtml

PORCINE provocateur Michael Moore is howling that the Oscars are fixed. Moore - whose popular anti-gun movie "Bowling for Columbine" has been nominated in the Best Documentary category - is lashing out at Sony Pictures Classics for allegedly rigging the contest so he's destined to lose. The wide-bottomed windbag claims Sony, which is distributing rival documentary prize contender "Winged Migration," a boring French bird flick, is exploiting Academy rules to ensure "Columbine" strikes out. The Academy requires that all voters in the documentary category must prove that they've seen every film nominated. As a result, fewer than 400 of the...

Monday, March 17th, 2003 George W. Bush 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, DC Dear Governor Bush: So today is what you call "the moment of truth," the day that "France and the rest of world have to show their cards on the table." I'm glad to hear that this day has finally arrived. Because, I gotta tell ya, having survived 440 days of your lying and conniving, I wasn't sure if I could take much more. So I'm glad to hear that today is Truth Day, 'cause I got a few truths I would like to share with you: 1. There...

I've long loathed Michael Moore's politics, but I've always cut him some slack (believe it or not). I've defended him in the press, in that Wired article for which I was interviewed. I've refrained from gratuitous name-calling (with one exception which I later retracted) and I've made it a point to read the entirety of his writings and to give him credit when he's right. Those days are over, not because I no longer believe in those methods but because I no longer feel Moore deserves their application. I now realize that he is a very interesting psychological case study....

Tim Blair: The awful truth? It's a crockDecember 30, 2002CHILDREN'S television is quite an art. It's not just a matter of throwing together simple tunes, basic storylines and bright colours. Successful children's TV also requires the presence of a large, formless creature, an entity usually combining equal elements of human and bovine. The cow-beast is crucial. So it is with Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore's Cannes-winning documentary on the wrongs of guns, capitalism, and America, now screening in Australia. The simple tunes and basic storylines are in place. Moore himself plays the Dorothy the Dinosaur role, clumsily loping about in...

<p>Don't accuse Michael Moore of being objective.</p>
<p>"I don't believe in objectivity," says the filmmaker. "I don't believe that any newspaper's objective. I believe there's subjectivity in every article, and where every article is placed. We're human beings, we're subjective animals, we're not machines."</p>
