(UPDATE at end. Elk ‘apologizes’.) Reporter Salena Zito claimed she was verbally attacked by a Guardian reporter, later identified as Mike Elk, who got in her face, called her an anti-Semite while blaming her for the Pittsburgh Synagogue massacre on Saturday because of her reporting on President Trump. Elk demanded she leave the scene near Synagogue where the press was gathered, according to Zito. Elk and Zito are both Pittsburgh natives who have achieved a national audience (of disparate reach and reputation) for their reporting. Zito posted to Twitter a photo of Elk with the caption, “In middle of a...
  • Former Lethargic Politico Labor Reporter Provides More Comedy

Mike Elk. He is the comedy gift that keeps on giving even after all these years. The former lethargic Politico labor reporter (whom they probably wish they never heard of) first came to our attention back in 2015 when the then 28 year old Elk was complaining about an incredible work load he had to endure: “I can’t work the kind of hours I did when I was 24.”
  • Former Lethargic Politico Labor Reporter Can't Afford Obamacare

Help! The Affordable Care Act is not affordable for me! Remember Mike Elk, the former lethargic Politico labor reporter? The word "lethargic" will forever be attached to his name because despite writing a grand total of five stories in fourteen weeks followed by several months of doing absolutely nothing, while being paid, he compained about the heavy work load at Politico. Nowadays Elk is writing about labor unions at his own Payday Report website funded by his Politico settlement. Unfortunately for Elk, money management doesn't seem to be his strong point since he now has his hand out for money to pay for ObamaCare...
  • Lethargic Former Politico Labor Reporter Scores Cash Settlement

Are you lazy as hell? Do you absolutely hate to work and want to get paid for doing almost nothing? As a fringe benefit, you will also score big bucks on your way out the door after months as a parasitic do nothing to the tune of perhaps $40,000. If this sounds like the opportunity for you, a no-work job is waiting for you at Politico.Erik Wemple of the Washington Post reported on just such an example. The favorite  part of the story for your humble correspondent was his link titled criticism that he was "lethargic." However, before we get to that, Wemple describes...
  • Former Lethargic Politico Labor Reporter Whines About Work Load

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. No, just make that the worst of times. That is how the vivid imagination of former lethargic Politico labor reporter, Mike Elk, paints his Dickensian visions of working conditions at that organization. Never mind that Elk wrote a grand total of five stores in his ten months at Politico, the last six of which were simply a paid vacation since he had no writing output during that time. In his mind the working conditions were horrible and the only solution is to unionize.  Let us join Elk as he...
  • Lethargic Labor Reporter Apparently Fired by Politico

It isn't completely official yet but when an employee has been removed from a company's list of staff bios, is publicly badmouthing his bosses, and is threatening to sue his employer, it is almost a sure sign that he has in fact been fired. Such is the case with lethargic labor reporter Mike Elk who has apparently (probably) been fired by Politico. New York Magazine lends Elk a sympathetic ear yet he still comes off as a rather nasty piece of work:
  • Lethargic Politico Labor Reporter Whines About Job to Bernie Sanders

Wow! Suddenly this week Politico reporter Mike Elk shook off his cloak of extreme lethargy and became like the Energizer Bunnie. Gone was his PTSD and STSD (Secondary Traumatic Stress Disorder) which he claims inhibit him from working. Despite not having done a bit of work for six months, there he was front and center at a press conference asking Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders questions. So what was the subject of Elk's inquiry? It was about how badly treated he is at his employer Politico because they haven't approved card check in voting on whether to form a union shop....

To the barricades! Or rather, to the virtual barricades since that requires much less effort. And in the case of lethargic Politico labor reporter the less real effort the better since according to his "work" schedule, Elk has produced only five Politico stories in fourteen weeks with absolutely no work performed by him in over five months.Ironically, Elk is now the one demanding that Politico be unionized. Um, before you advocate for "workers' rights" don't you have to at least do a little work? The most work that Elk has actually done in over five months was producing a semi-literate...
  • Did Lethargic Politico Reporter Pull a Dolezal With College Application Lie?

Politico has been covering the Rachel Dolezal story as have many other news sources as you can see here, here, and here. Who can blame them? It is a fascinating story about a white person casting herself (soon to be himself?) as a member of another group. However, it turns out that Politico may be able to get the inside scoop on what it is like to fake ethnicity from one of their own. None other than their hilariously infamous lethargic labor reporter, Mike Elk, according to his own declaration, pretended to be an American Indian on his college financial aid...
  • Lethargic Politico Reporter: They Died at Haymarket So I Could Relax

Oh, the strain, the horrible strain! Politico reporter Mike Elk is the notoriously lethargic "labor" reporter at Politico, best known for his quote for the ages when the 28 year old of distinctly non-Stakhovonite inclinations complained that “I can’t work the kind of hours I did when I was 24.” To get an idea of the "overwork" poor Mike is subjected to, take a look at his Politico work schedule which yields a grand total of five articles in five months. Yes, that one article per month work schedule is driving him to despair and he has taken to Facebook...
  • Lethargic Politico Labor Reporter Goes MIA

    NewsBusters ^ | February 22, 2015 | P.J. Gladnick
Politico labor reporter Mike Elk continues to set new records in the annals of extreme lethargy. Not only has he written a pathetic total of only five stories since he came on board at Politico in the middle of October, he can't even be bothered to write or even contribute to currently breaking important labor stories. Yesterday Politico published a story about the Secretary of Labor in the wake of the settlement of a big labor dispute that caused a slowdown in container freight traffic on the West Coast for several months. Where was Mike? Gone. Not only did he...
  • HuffPo Blogger Fired for Using Press Creds to Abet Union Protesters

Just because the site was founded by an alleged plagiarist doesn't mean it's totally devoid of ethical clout. Though you do have to wonder: from where does the Huffington Post recruit its bloggers? The site reportedly informed one of its unpaid contributors last week that he was being let go. The offense: he had used his press credentials as a HuffPo blogger to get labor union demonstrators access to a Mortgage Bankers Association event, where they staged a rowdy protest. Yahoo News reporter Joe Pompeo wrote of the event on Monday: The commotion attracted a fair amount of media attention...
