Persistent use of methamphetamine is the single biggest risk factor for HIV seroconversion among gay and bisexual men, according to a new study published in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes. Using subjects from across the U.S., including Puerto Rico and Guam, researchers found that over 12 months of follow-up, 14% of study participants reported using meth, and 2.5% tested positive for HIV (115 new infections). The George Floyd autopsy states he had 19 ng/mL of Meth in his blood. Reference sources say that a fatal dose of Meth begins around 2.5 mg/L. So - I did a two step conversion. First - 2.5 mg would be 2,500,000 ng/L. Second - 2,500,000 ng/L would be 2,500 ng/mL. So - a fatal dose of Meth would be around 2,500 ng/mL, which is more than 100 times the level George Floyd had in his blood. Is that correct? Thanks again.

s tragic as the story of Andrew Gillum‘s involvement in a situation that included the unfortunate collision of drugs, a male escort and a hotel room in Miami Beach may be, history has shown that it doesn’t necessarily spell a political downfall from which he can’t return. While all the details surrounding the suspected crystal meth incident on early Friday morning had yet to be fully sorted out, Gillum, the former mayor of Tallahassee, announced he would be retreating from public life and entering a rehab facility for help for the “alcohol abuse” and “depression” that he has suffered from...

A Florida man attempted a “not so great escape” last week when he tried hiding from deputies underwater in a pond – an “action movie” stunt that officials easily foiled when he came up for air, authorities said. Daniel Christopher Booth, 36, had warrants out for his arrest in Baker County for selling methamphetamine, the Suwanee County Sheriff’s Office wrote Wednesday on Facebook. When a deputy attempted to arrest Booth at his job at a solar power plant, the sheriff’s office said, the 36-year-old ran away and dove into a pond. “Now we can only assume that Mr. Booth has...

On Monday, during an interview with the Des Moines Register, 2020 presidential hopeful mayor of South Bend, Indiana, Pete Buttigieg said drug possession should not result in jail time. Buttigieg said, “Incarceration should not even be a response to drug possession. What I have seen is while there continues to be all kinds of harms associated with drug possession and use, it is also the case that we have created in an effort to deal with a public health problem, we have created an even bigger problem — a justice problem, and it’s own form of a health problem when...

Connor Betts’ life appeared to be improving in recent months. His drunken driving troubles were behind him. He’d passed the basic math classes that stymied his earlier college attempts. He went to counseling and registered for classes for the upcoming fall semester at Sinclair. But in April, the Oregon District gunman started taking steps toward what would end on Aug. 4 with the death of nine other people, including his sister, as well as himself. He bought a pistol. To keep his parents in the dark, federal authorities allege he enlisted an unwitting friend to acquire body armor, the upper...

Democrats advanced a new measure this week to encourage states to pass “red flag” laws. These so-called extreme risk protection orders authorize removing guns and ammunition from individuals deemed as dangerous by some anonymous, unaccountable person, but it would not include the ready-made lists of gang members. Republicans tried to add an amendment including known gang members, but the Democrats will not permit the inclusion of gang databases. It’s odd since gangs are the ones causing most of the so-called gun violence. They would agree to include the names of white supremacists, but not other terror groups.
