A newly proposed California bill would provide financial benefits to methamphetamine users who stay sober.
SB-888, introduced by San Francisco Democrat State Sen. Scott Wiener, would expand Medi-Cal treatment options, including programs that motivate meth users to stay sober by offering vouchers or cash.
Can I get paid for staying off meth?
Poor meth users, it’s not their fault, they accidentally fell on that meth pipe...
Give them free meth. Cheaper.
Is he related to Huma’s ex?
Meth is the ultimate scourge, imho
I’m going to start a crowdfund for my new business, providing clean urine samples to cranksters.
Gee, for 50 cents we can shoot them in the back of the head.
Pay me to stay off meth. Im schlepping downtown every day to work ten hours as a nurse
I served this country for seven years in the
Military
Why dont I get paid from the government to not be an idiot when these idiots are supposed to get paid for not acting like idiots?
Geeze I really think trump needs to work on getting more terms. These people have been completely mis educated. What they do with my tax money is idiotic
Or you could just execute them.
I hope you don’t waste your time reading the bible or believing in God :)
I'll retire to Bedlam.
we pay people via the welfare system not to riot. It works......................for a while.
Another day, another stupid idea from Sacramento.
Actually, what will end up happening is that the meth users will use the money to buy meth, and no one will be the wiser.
I’m sober. Where do I go for my check?
Also, can I get a check for not raping, how about for not murdering, what about not assaulting, not robbing, not DIU, etc., etc.?
While I’m at it, I want to also collect my check for not planting corn, not planting tobacco, not raising pigs, cows, etc.
Thanks. I think I might just retire. Nothing to do, and being paid very well for being willing to do nothing. What a great country.
Just don’t eat poppy seed muffins. .

You know what, yours is the best comment here.
At least it’s not full of hate about a law in a state that no one is forced to live in.
I take prescription klonopin for tremors since a head injury a ways back.
Only 2 mgs a day. I was once on 4mg. If I didn’t get to the pharmacy within 40 hours of the last dose I would feel sicker than I have ever felt in my life.
There wasn’t enough money in the world to replace getting the script.
I could walk away from 2mgs without withdrawals, so that’s good now.
But we’re all human and we have human family members and I wonder if shooting them for 50 cents would be an option then (one comment here).
I’m guessing we have perfect human beings on FR :)
Not me.
I’ve gambled excessively, drank excessively too many times to count, committed low level mafia crimes 25 years ago, fooled around with too many women to count in my yoot...and a few other things.
It’s great to be 51 and not do any of that anymore.
It’s NOT great to pretend one has always been a saint.
In fact, it’s nauseating.
There but for the grace of God...
Ah, that phrase is lost on this crowd...
At least, the taxpayers will be funding the first hit when they fall off the wagon.
The ultimate incentive: pay them if they stay off meth, execute them if they dont.
