"I just hope there wasn’t some chemicals or intoxication involved given it’s a holiday weekend," area resident Juan Barrera said. The boat was believed to be an "approximately 50-foot power vessel," sheriff's Lt. Deryl Walker told the Los Angeles Times. The operator of the boat, along with a woman who was on board, were cooperating with law enforcement, authorities said. Furthermore, there was no evidence of a crime, according to officials.
