Security researchers have discovered a vulnerability in Macromedia's Flash Player that creates a mechanism for hackers to attack the PCs of users running the popular application. The security bug - described as critical - affect Macromedia Flash Player 6.x and 7.x. Macromedia has issued security updates. The flaw stems from a failure to reject malformed SWF files as invalid. I am looking for some help in publishing from Director 8. My main problem is that I have an interactive presentation that includes and AVI segment. When I go to publish, the shockwave output works fine except the AVI never shows. The browser window remains blank for what wold be the duration of the movie and then continues with the interactive part. Any help will be appreciated.

Hello fellow freepers. I've been reading up on HTML and other such web page goodies. To make a long story short I want to create a webpage but I was hoping that, before purchasing any software; i.e. Adobe GoLive etc, or getting a domain name someone might be able to steer me away from the junk and towards the decent markups out there. I installed Flash Movie player when I installed Internet Explorer. Okay stuff, funny animations and some games are done in Flash. Now the problem. Some idiot came up with Flash Movie advertisements. These hover over the newly opened web page. You can't see the page until they are over, also they play loud music and announcements. TV Guide is the worst, they have a 5 minute job for "24" and it plays every time you update the page to see what's coming on next. Enough is enough said I. I went to uninstall Flash Movie Player.
