John “Zip” Connolly is apparently one of those hoodlums who cares what his obituary says about him after he’s dead and gone. At age 82, the infamous ex-FBI agent seems obsessed with clearing at least one indelible stain off his remarkably squalid (even by Boston G-man standards) underworld career. He’d prefer not to have “Mob hitman” in the first sentence of his death notice. There’s not much he can do about the racketeering conviction, or all his tawdry connections to the Bulger Crime Family. But “Mob hitman” is a bit much. Sadly, Zip has failed yet again to remove “assassin”...

A man who worked as a bank teller in Cleveland and robbed his employer of $215,000 52 years ago has finally been unmasked by US Marshals - six months after he died. Theodore John Conrad died at the age of 71 in a north Boston suburb in May of this year, having turned his hand to selling luxury cars as a career, and later ending up broke. His wife Kathy and daughter Ashley only found out their father's secret during his final days, as he succumbed to cancer. Conrad successfully pulled off one of the biggest bank robberies in Cleveland,...

A man experimenting with a magnet plucked a fully-loaded Uzi submachine gun and several other weapons out of a pond in Massachusetts, reports say. The unnamed individual called the police after pulling the Uzi out of Pillings Pond in the small town of Lynnfield. Lynnfield officer Patrick Curran inspected the submachine gun and discovered it was loaded, before encouraging the man to throw his powerful magnet – attached to the end of rope – back into the water to see what else he could find. The magnet fisher pulled another four guns from the pond, including a Glock handgun, a...

LYNNFIELD, Mass. -- A man shot and killed his pregnant girlfriend and her sister before killing himself Monday night in Lynnfield, according to police. "Look at this street, you know. You're not in the city. It's a little, tiny, quiet street," said Ruth McMahon, a neighbor. Police said that 51-year-old Joseph Cummings shot his girlfriend, Kimberly Nguyen, 35, and her sister Lilly Nguyen, 29, after a domestic dispute inside a house on Ledge Road around 10 p.m. Neighbors from a block away knew something horrible happened inside the home. "It was like ‘Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop!'...
