At about 10:30 p.m. on August 14, the police and fire departments were called to a residence on Noble Street in Casa de Oro after neighbors heard a loud explosion. There was plenty excitement among the ten or twelve partygoers when firefighters arrived on the scene, but it was quickly determined that there was no fire or injuries. When questioned, the owner of the house explained that he had been planning a Polynesian-style luau for some time and that he had dug a large fire pit in the backyard to roast the 280-pound pig he had purchased for the occasion....

I'm not saying the President doesn't deserve some recreation, but the standard I hold him to is, "What if Bush had done this?" Six months into that recession, President Bush's tax cuts had almost ended it. White House press secretary Robert Gibbs stepped into a dunk tank at the White House Thursday and gave the press corps a chance to exact their revenge. AP reporter Ben Feller was the first to take Gibbs down.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is bringing some island flavor to the White House. The White House is turning the annual picnic for members of Congress and their families into a Hawaiian luau, in celebration of the president's home state. Tents have been set up on the South Lawn, tiki torches line the perimeter, and potted palm trees have been brought in. "It's almost like the 'Aloha' spirit lives at the White House," said Alan Wong, a famed Hawaiian chef who is preparing Thursday night's meal.
