Verses about salvation: Ezekiel 18 23"(A)Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked," declares the Lord GOD, "rather than that he should (B)turn from his ways and live? Ezekiel 18 31"(A)Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed and make yourselves a (B)new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel? 32"For I have (A)no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies," declares the Lord GOD. "Therefore, repent and live." 30"Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, each according to his conduct," declares the Lord GOD. "(A)Repent...

Sarah Palin was back in Alaska on Thursday to see her son off to war. A homecoming rally late on Wednesday marked the first time the governor had been in the state since Republican presidential hopeful John McCain asked her to be his running mate on 28 August. And there was no hiding her joy at being back after the madness of the past two weeks in which the little-known governor and self-proclaimed "hockey mom" was transformed into a political rock star. Palin's laughter filled the cabin as the freshly-painted McCain-Palin campaign plane pulled up to an airport hanger in...

AL ASAD, Iraq (June 26, 2006) -- Marines here received the opportunity to see their families living in Yuma, Ariz., through a 30-minute video teleconference call June 17. The event, which was hosted at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation and Marine Aircraft Group 16 Headquarters buildings, afforded Marines from Marine Attack Squadron 513, MAG-16 (Reinforced), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, the chance to do more than just hear their loved ones back home. "The video calls are a way for me to stay in touch with my wife even though we are far apart," said Sgt. David K. Averill, aviation ordnance...

FORT HUACHUCA — James L. Burke sat in his wheelchair. The retired Signal Corps colonel wept, wiping his eyes with a handkerchief held in his right hand. With his left hand he patted the top of the tombstone on which the name of Mary E. Burke had been inscribed. Mary, his wife, died in 2002. Monday, the 87-year-old Burke, who served in combat in World War II and in Vietnam, was at the Fort Huachuca Cemetery visiting the grave of his wife. He met Mary in Hawaii during World War II, when she was an Army nurse, daughter Bridget Burke...

WASHINGTON, Jan. 6, 2006 – In the age of e-mail, podcasts and blogs, it's easier than ever before for deployed troops to stay in contact with their friends and loved ones at home. MotoMail is a free, Internet-based letter writing and delivery service that puts letters in the hands of deployed Marines and sailors much faster than traditional mail, often within 24 hours. Courtesy of U.S. Marine Corps But many say none of these high-tech communications can compete with an old-fashioned card or letter they can tuck away in a pocket or backpack and reread anytime, anywhere, until it's...

Ancient Peruvians loved their spuds Maggie Fox Reuters Tuesday, 4 October 2005 The humble chip originated from potatoes grown in Peru about 7000 years ago (Image: iStockphoto) The first cultivated potato was grown in what is now Peru, researchers say, and it originated only once, not several times, as some experts propose. The genetic study shows the first potato known to have been farmed is genetically closest to a species now found only in southern Peru, the US and UK researchers write online, ahead of print, in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. "This result shows the potato...

As Ann Coulter said, bless her scathing sharp soul, Liberals love America like O.J. loved Nicole. Sad words those may be, but with ire they must fill us, If the Left can’t control us, they’d just as soon kill us. It’s a madness you see, coming full to the fore, Since they lost every battle of 2004. The weaker seek shrinks while the blamers point fingers, And the madness just festers, the lunacy lingers. They had trusted John Kerry to lead from above, But the problem with that was his hand fit the glove. And the Swift Boat detectives took...

WASHINGTON — The mother of Zacarias Moussaoui, accused in the Sept. 11 attacks, says her son only turned bitter against the United States after being jailed last summer. "For me, he's not a killer, because he promised me that he didn't do anything," Aicha el-Wafi told CNN's "Larry King Live." As a youngster, Moussaoui "loved American movies and he was always dressed with American-style clothes," she said. Moussaoui, a French citizen of Moroccan descent, was arrested Aug. 16 in Minnesota after officials at a flight school became suspicious of his conduct as a student.
