What did the North Vietnamese leadership think of the American antiwar movement? What was the purpose of the Tet Offensive? How could the U.S. have been more successful in fighting the Vietnam War? Bui Tin, a former colonel in the North Vietnamese army, answers these questions in the following excerpts from an interview conducted by Stephen Young, a Minnesota attorney and human-rights activist. Bui Tin, who served on the general staff of North Vietnam's army, received the unconditional surrender of South Vietnam on April 30, 1975. He later became editor of the People's Daily, the official newspaper of Vietnam. He now lives in Paris, where he immigrated after becoming disillusioned with the fruits of Vietnamese communism.

A significant effect of the John Kerry-led 1971 protests was it strengthened the resolve of the North Vietnamese to continue to hold American POWs (see here). The Nhan Dan daily newspaper of the North Vietnamese Communist party wrote that the protests in the United States were "a wave among the big waves which are rising higher and higher." The paper also referred to the Kerry group as the "millions of American troops who have participated in the criminal war in Vietnam and were sent back to the United States to the ingratitude of the U.S. administration and indifference of many...

WASHINGTON, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- John Kerry's bid to become commander in chief of wartime America has opened old wounds among some former Vietnam-era POWs who bristle over Kerry's anti-war activism and atrocity allegations during the Vietnam conflict. Those activities and statements, pushed out of sight by a campaign that spotlights Kerry's service in Vietnam, were used by the POWs' North Vietnamese captors to sap the morale of prisoners and U.S. troops still in the field in South Vietnam, former POWs told United Press International. "They were always talking about that (anti-war demonstrations), and they picked right up on Kerry's...
  • I need help debating editor of local liberal newspaper

Several days ago I got in an email battle with the editor of the local newspaper over their coverage of the Nick Berg murder versus their coverage of the politically motivated Abu Ghraib "abuse" story. My contention is that, had one of the Abu Ghraib prisoners been decapitated by guards and if there were photos of it, they would not refrain for a single second from publishing a front-page photo of the killer holding the head out toward the camera. Needless to say, there was no such photo of the Nick Berg execution. I would have settled for a photo...

John Kerry is in deep doo doo. Read the articles just posted at http://CrushKerry.Com. A press conference tomorrow will prove to be a "major" blow to the Kerry campaign (see article called "Kerry Unfit to be Commander-in-Chief) Also read the article about "Major Gaps in Kerry's Military Service". It now seems that Kerry may have been AWOL!! Last, but not least, take a look at the article called "Kerry Lied. Good Men Died". Information is available on this MAJOR anti-Kerry rally at: KerryLied.com
