She had until Nov. 19 to report to prison. Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli have changed their plea to guilty in the college bribery admission scandal and now hope to serve two months and five months behind bars respectively as part of a plea deal. The pair have for months denied their role in paying $500,000 to get their daughters into USC by pretending they were rowing stars when neither had played the sport. The Justice Department on Thursday announced they had changed their plea to guilty and will now admit one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. As part of their plea deal,...

As her trial date approaches, the 55-year-old celebrity is demanding that charges against her be dismissed because, her lawyers claim, the feds pressured the mastermind behind the scheme, Rick Singer, to lie to her during recorded conversations, according to Us Weekly. “Lori’s lawyers feel they have a very strong chance of having the charges dismissed because prosecutors withheld key evidence that [ringleader] Rick Singer was pressured by the...

The story that’s stranger than fiction is becoming fiction: A scripted TV series based on the recent college admissions scandal that ensnared actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin is in the works, according to our sister site Variety. Annapurna TV is producing the limited series, based on the upcoming book chronicling the scandal, Accepted, by Melissa Korn and Jennifer Levitz. Writer D.V. DeVincentis (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) is set to pen the adaptation. No network is attached to the project yet, though. To refresh your memory: Huffman and Loughlin were among a number of parents accused...

Last month, in the wake of the Felicity Huffman/Lori Loughlin/et al. college admissions scandal, I wrote a column about Americans' outdated obsession with so-called "elite" colleges and universities. Space restrictions prevented me from discussing another troublesome issue: the fraternity culture at many American universities. Several years ago, I read an article in Rolling Stone magazine, "Confessions of an Ivy League Frat Boy." The author, Andrew Lohse, is a former Dartmouth student. Lohse blew the whistle on truly repulsive hazing practices at Dartmouth -- and found himself expelled for his trouble, while his fraternity brothers escaped unscathed. His Rolling Stone interview...

The Mediterranean house – which was the address for [Rick] Singer’s Key Worldwide Foundation – was listed for sale Feb. 20 at $2.599 million, nearly three weeks before his court appearance on Tuesday, March 12. Records show Singer paid $1.55 million for the Newport Beach home in 2012. Built in 2003, the 5,167-square-foot house sits on “one of the most sought after blocks” in Newport Heights, the listing description said, touting high ceilings, stone floors, a gourmet kitchen and butler’s pantry. An office suite, secluded patio and firepit also were highlighted, as were the master suite decks and “spa-like” bathroom...

In one email conversation that was obtained by New York Magazine, [Rick] Singer [college admissions scandal ringleader] instructs an employee to submit Olivia’s application to the University of Southern California. Olivia was later cc’d on emails with her parents and CW-1 in which her mother asked for help with applications to other colleges — “I don’t want to call any attention to [Olivia] with our little friend [guidance counselor].” CW-1 “responded by directing an employee to submit the application on behalf of [Olivia Jade.]” So did she understand what was going on? She certainly would have known, at the very least, that...

Prosecutors are “determined” to see that Hollywood actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman receive jail time for their part in the elite college bribery case, according to a report. Deadline reported Wednesday that jail time for the actresses appears “more and more likely.” Sources told the Tinseltown-focused website that law enforcement officials have signaled that Loughlin and Huffman could serve between six months and just under two years behind bars. 10:35 AM PT -- Well, prosecutors did exactly what we reported early Tuesday morning. Since Lori did not cop a plea, the U.S. Attorney went to a Federal Grand Jury to get an indictment, adding charges of money laundering. This now increases the amount of time Lori and her husband would get as a minimum recommended sentence. Specifically, the U.S. Attorney says, Lori, her husband and 14 others will now be charged with the additional crime of "conspiring to launder the bribes and other payment in furtherance of the fraud by funneling them through [Rick] Singer's purported charity and his...
