Catestrophic Hurricane Dorian was assigned Category 5 status by the NHC Sunday, September 1 at 0800. Since then Hurricane Dorian reached maximum sustained winds of 185 MPH, with gusts exceeding 220 MPH, and storm surge 18-23 feet above normal tide levels as it made landfall across Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas.
