Springsteen Guitarist: ObamaCare 'Almost Worthless' By Noel Sheppard Created 12/14/2013 - 2:27pm Steven Van Zandt, the guitarist for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, came down strongly on ObamaCare Thursday. In a video interview, Van Zandt said Barack Obama's signature legislation is "almost worthless." Van Zandt believes we're having the wrong conversation in this country. "We waste two years talking about healthcare, and I’m like, why are we talking about healthcare when we should be talking about health?" he said. "I spend six months a year in Norway," offered Van Zandt. "Healthcare’s free in Norway because everybody’s healthy." "You can’t even...

To hear Steven Van Zandt tell it, he had no choice. He had simply wanted to do a two-hour radio show, no big deal, on which he could play some of the garage rock he loves and have some fun. But when he pitched the idea to syndicators, what they told him forced him to turn his hobby into a crusade. "They said, 'Stevie, baby, we love you,' " he said, his eyes wide in mock disbelief, "but we cannot get rock 'n' roll on the radio anymore.' " Big pause. "And it was like, aaarrrggghh," he said, his voice...

NEW YORK (AP) - Pelle Almqvist never could understand the connection between loud guitars and being miserable. You're up on a stage jumping around, making a loud noise with women adoringly gazing at you. What's not to like? "It's just such a naturally exciting and fun thing," said Almqvist, lead singer of the Swedish rock band the Hives. Acts like the Hives, White Stripes, the Strokes and the Vines are leading a new vanguard with a raw, adrenalized sound best described as garage rock. And after a decade dominated by dense, morose grunge or the angry rants of Limp Bizkit...
