All splash and no class was the verdict delivered on Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York after she wore a strapless gown with "Tax the Rich" emblazoned on the back to Monday night's Met Gala. The gala, a fundraiser that became a major New York City society event, made its return Monday after being on hiatus due to the coronavirus. The event comes with a $35,000 ticket price or a fee of $250,000 for a table,

Seattle – A 28-year-old Bellingham, Washington woman was convicted Thursday in U.S. District Court in Seattle of violence against a railroad carrier. Ellen Brennan Reiche, was one of two people arrested on the BNSF Railway tracks near Bellingham, near midnight on November 28, 2020. Reiche was convicted of placing a ‘shunt’ – a device that interferes with train signals – on the tracks. The jury deliberated about three hours following the two-day trial. Reiche faces up to 20 years in prison.

In thirty-four years of living in America, I have never faced the problem of radical racial resistance from committed individualists, many of whom fall within the conservative camp. They have mostly accepted me as an individual and treated me as an equal. My race to them was neither a qualifier nor a disqualifier, but a sociological marker which, as far as I could tell, was irrelevant to how I performed. In my experience with far-left progressives there exists an insidious racism that is often hard to diagnose. Their sense of their own whiteness required black helplessness and inadequacy to shore...

[LANGUAGE WARNING] Legendary conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh received an honor of a lifetime when President Donald Trump presented him with the Medal of Freedom at Tuesday’s State of the Union address. But his haters in the liberal media couldn’t let Limbaugh – who just announced he is battling advanced lung cancer – have this one heartwarming moment for his family and millions of fans to savor without attacking him as an undeserving racist. ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos called the honor a “controversial move.” His colleague correspondent Cecilia Vega added that the “divisive” Limbaugh’s “past comments on race, whose...

I thought that case was already decided, since socialist countries failed so spectacularly. But the idea hasn't died, especially amongst the young. "Hitler's socialism, Stalin's socialism, Mao's socialism. You would think people would have recognized it by now," says Paul in my latest video. Paul echoes Orwell in likening socialism to "a boot stamping on the human face forever" and warning that it always leads to violence and corruption. "You would think that when your economy gets to the point where people are eating their pets," says Paul, contemplating the quick descent of once-rich Venezuela, "people might have second thoughts...

Kathryn Murdoch granted a rare interview to The New York Times in which she spoke about her work with the environment, her husband James and her very famous extended family. The 47-year-old wife of Rupert Murdoch's younger son also compared her father-in-law to her husband, noting: 'I think James has shown himself to be a very different leader from his father.' James is now free from his role at Fox News after his brother Lachlan took the reins, and he and Kathryn are funding a number of environmental programs after she was motivated to join the cause during a presentation...

Once Southern Democrats were forced to free their slaves, they attempted to effectively re-enslave them by passing Black Codes which required former slaves to be “apprenticed” to “employers” and punished those who left. In many cases, the fate of sharecroppers was little better than slavery. Black Codes were also called “Jim Crow Laws,” referring to an 1828 New Orleans riverboat song called “Jump Jim Crow,” in which a blackfaced performer appeared in a mocking caricature and danced: Weel about and turn about and do jis so, Eb’ry time I weel about I jump Jim Crow. Many Black Codes prohibited blacks...

The concept of the rule of law is the bedrock of the U.S. Constitution. The founders agreed that for an orderly society to survive, we had to agree to a set of rules by which we would organize around, limit government power and create laws that would be evenly enforced and fairly applied. For the nearly 240 years our Republic has existed, these principles have stood the test of time. However, it is now eroding in ways previously thought unimaginable. James Madison, who wrote the model that framed the U.S. Constitution, said, “If men were angels, no government would be...

On behalf of LGBTQ San Franciscans and all Americans, I am incredibly proud to have voted to pass H.R. 5, the Equality Act in the House of Representatives today. With this critical legislation, we are one step closer to finally, fully ending discrimination against LGBTQ Americans, and moving our nation closer to fulfilling the promise of equality, opportunity and justice for every American.
  • Gov. Newsom Points to California Exceptionalism, Challenges

California Gov. Gavin Newsom boldly declared his state a model for the nation Monday but said its leaders have failed to rein in the soaring cost of living and stem inequalities that are making it harder for people to achieve what he called the "California dream." "We face serious challenges — some that have been deferred for too long," Newsom said in his inaugural address. "We face a gulf between the rich and everyone else — and it's not just inequality of wealth, it's inequality of opportunity." Still, Newsom said it's California that can best defend U.S. values in the...

Various leftist grievance groups have insisted for years that they just want equal treatment and equal rights, that they only want to end discrimination and that they come with an attitude of "live and let live." Nope. We've long known that the "tolerance" police don't merely want equal rights and to be treated with civility. They require that you honor their ideas as superior, reject your own contrary ideas and do penance for ever having held your own ideas. If you make the mistake of dissenting from their dogma, you must be shamed -- and punished. There is no semblance...

Detroit rocker Kid Rock has been removed from his position as grand marshal of the Nashville Christmas parade after calling Joy Behar a “bitch” on Fox News Friday. During an appearance on Fox & Friends, Kid Rock said, “We can disagree and still be cordial with one another and just talk about things without going for each others throats and protesting everything. God forbid you say something a little bit wrong you’re racist, homophobic, Islamophobic.” “People need to calm down, a get a little less politically correct, and, I would say, love everybody. Except, I’d say screw that Joy Behar...

One African American ICE officer reported in internal emails to DHS administrators that “protestors ‘began yelling racial slurs at him’ including the N-word.” He was also called an Uncle Tom, which I, too, am called just about daily on social media (though usually in Spanish – ‘Tio Tomas’). The ICE officer lamented that the “racial slurs have been directed at me throughout the entire length of the deployment.” A female Hispanic officer reported anti-Hispanic slurs and derided as a “weak female” by the protestors. These comments were hardly isolated, as she also reported that “I was berated for so long...

A few days back, Kimberley Johnson, a feminist contributor to Huffington Post, came under fire after a social media post questioning why a black man would sport pro-NRA and tea party bumper stickers on his car. “Out on the road the other day I saw an affluent black man driving a BMW with two bumper stickers. One was pro-NRA and the other one was a Tea Party sticker that read, ‘Don’t tread on me.’ This left me very confused.” – Kimberley Johnson on Twitter, July 5, 2018 Now, I believe there are two reasons why Johnson was confused. She’s a...

From President Donald Trump’s policy of separating the children of illegal immigrants to Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement, there was a lot for lefties in the media and Hollywood to lose their heads over this month. Anchors and reporters depicted the “despot” Trump and those who voted for him as Nazis that were making the Statue of Liberty weep. Reporting from one of the detention centers CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King, on June 18, fretted: “The Statue of Liberty, I think, is weeping right now.” But that wasn’t as awful as MSNBC’s Morning Joe crew. On June 15 co-host Joe...

A headline in The Hill captures a significant moment in American history: "Four socialist-backed candidates win Pennsylvania legislative primaries." The Democratic Socialists of America supported all four candidates, who will almost certainly win in November, given their lack of GOP opponents. The DSA itself thinks socialism's time has come: The DSA hailed the legislative victories as a huge moment for the socialist movement. Arielle Cohen, co-chair of the Pittsburgh DSA chapter, told HuffPost that she feels a "monumental shift" after the victories, noting DSA's growing membership since President Trump's election. "We won on popular demands that were deemed impossible. We...

On her MSNBC show AM Joy, Joy Reid lined up her supporters on the radical gay left to change the subject from her anti-gay blog posts from a decade ago to the usual MSNBC hysteria. Brandon Wolf of the Dru Project repeatedly attacked the "homophobic psychopaths" in power and even suggested if he were ever president, Mike Pence would "have us all in concentration camps hoping to pray away the gay." BRANDON WOLF: I just want to cut through it all and keep it very real with people about what we’re up against. We have homophobic psychopaths running the United...
