President Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday that he is not seeking “regime change” in Iran, noting that the endeavor would likely result in “so much chaos.”
In response to inquiries about whether there is any desire to try “regime change” — two words that many Americans now associate with a “forever war,” due to previous administrations — Trump replied, “No. If there was, there was, but no, I don’t want it,” according to a report in New York Post.
“I’d like to see everything calm down as quickly as possible,” the president added. “Regime change takes chaos, and ideally, we don’t want to see so much chaos.”
“So we’ll see how it goes,” President Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on his way to the Netherlands for the NATO summit.
In private talks, the president told those around him that he wanted to prevent regime change in Iran, as he didn’t want to potentially have “another Libya” situation transpire, according to the New York Post.

Hell if the Tehran thugocracy in the meantime (while the U.S. remains ambivalent about who’s in charge) isn’t going to remain the nastiest, snarling dog on earth, entirely impervious to the olympic-quality jawboning they will surely receive, on a regular basis, directly from PDJT.
Hopefully that dog in question will be or remain defanged (at least effectively so).
In response, a federal judge has decreed that regime change is mandatory.
The Neocons will launch a full frontal assault on POTUS now.
Where’s Levin and Graham?
OF COURSE, POTUS is correct in this. It would result in chaos and US Troops on the ground.
Democracy is mob rule. We do not want that anywhere.
It’s up to the Iranian people to decide what they want. I have a sick feeling that because of the “ceasefire” and American politics the Iranian regime got a lifeline. There’s not going to be a Green Revolution 2.0 or anything to the 1979 takeover. Iran will wait it all out.
Wonder what that was that he was talking about the other day.
When do we annex Canada?
Public statements and private operations aren’t always in alignment. DJT cares about people, so if Iranians want to change it he won’t stand in their way
I would like to see evidence that the current regime is going to be peaceful, finally.
I would like to see U-235 and centrifuges in IAEA custody.
I would like to see reactor contracts cancelled.
I think Trump caved to EU or Chinese pressure, or simply to oil price fears.
I fear all the B-2 attack did was to set Iran back about two weeks.
The Iranians started at .7% U-235. They’ve gone to 60% U-235.
They don’t even need to have 1% of their centrifuges operable to get to bomb grade.
We saw “regime change” in Libya and Iraq. DISASTER.
American badly needs “regime change” of its UNELECTED tyrant federal judges.
The same was true in the First Gulf War in 1991.
Any military action on our part will destabilize a regime, period.
Did Trump just drop his sanctions on Chinese companies importing oil from Iran?

“China can now continue to purchase Oil from Iran. Hopefully, they will be purchasing plenty from the U.S., also. It was my Great Honor to make this happen!”
“Any military action on our part will destabilize a regime, period.”
Destabilizing a destabilizing regime could lead to stability.
It’s up to the Iranian People.
“When do we annex Canada?”
We don’t want Canaduh.
They don’t even have a popularly elected PM.
They seem to love a fascist gov’t.
I do.
Iran is run by insane theocrats dedicated to Islamic world hegemony.
Don’t forget Syria and Egypt a few years ago!
