There are two levels to this story. The first is the absolutely unheard-of fact that a Supreme Court opinion was leaked before the Court officially issued it, something that's incredibly damaging to the institution. The second is that, if this really is the decision that the Court will issue, Justice Alito is 100% correct that Roe v. Wade has no constitutional basis and that, under the Constitution as written, the question of abortion belongs to the individual states. The news was shocking: Politico reported that it had received a draft of the final opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health...

On Monday, MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough suggested that the leak of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade could have come from Justice Samuel Alito’s “people,” or it could be from “somebody on the left.” Scarborough said someone connected to Alito could have leaked it to “pressure” Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett to side with his opinion.

Immediately following a Politico report that the U.S. Supreme Court was poised to overturn a decades-old landmark abortion ruling, Roe v. Wade, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin warned how the draft came to light, which was through a leak, would have a lasting impact on the institution. Toobin told CNN host Anderson Cooper the leak was a “shattering experience,” and he was not sure “how or if the institution” will recover.

Hollywood celebrities descended into a planet-sized panic late Monday after a draft Supreme Court opinion overruling Roe v. Wade leaked to Politico. The would-be decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, No. 19-1392 in the Supreme Court of the United States could “condemn women to die,” according to CBS’ Good Sam star Sophia Bush; it could push America “another big step towards fascism” shrieked director Rob Reiner, or it’s apparently plunged us all “back 50 years” said actress Mia Farrow.

Whoever leaked the alleged draft of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has committed the “original sin for judicial ethics,” said Jonathan Turley, criminal defense attorney and Shapiro professor of public interest law at George Washington University. Politico published an alleged draft on Monday of the Court’s decision to overrule Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case. The case revolves around Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban and is the most significant challenge in decades to the Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which declared abortion to be protected by the U.S. Constitution. The...

The recent leak of a draft opinion that signals the U.S. Supreme Court is ready to overturn its decision in Roe v. Wade is unprecedented in the Court’s modern history. On Monday, Politico reported on a draft opinion it obtained “from a person familiar with the court’s proceedings,” reportedly written by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito. According to the draft, Alito comes to the “inescapable conclusion” that “a right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and traditions.” “The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion,” the draft says. “Roe...

On March 3, as Russian military forces bombed Ukrainian cities as part of Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion of his neighbor, the Kremlin sent out talking points to state-friendly media outlets with a request: Use more Tucker Carlson. “It is essential to use as much as possible fragments of broadcasts of the popular Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who sharply criticizes the actions of the United States [and] NATO, their negative role in unleashing the conflict in Ukraine, [and] the defiantly provocative behavior from the leadership of the Western countries and NATO towards the Russian Federation and towards President Putin, personally,”...

While Ukraine hoaxer Alex Vindman may achieve an early victory in this case, he may soon deeply regret his decision to sue. On Feb. 2, Alex Vindman, the driving force of the first impeachment of President Donald Trump, filed suit in a federal court in D.C. against Donald Trump Jr, the former president’s son; Rudy Giuliani, the president’s former personal attorney; Julia Hahn, the former special assistant to the president; and Daniel Scavino Jr, a Trump communications official. Fired FBI executive Andrew McCabe says America's conservatives are as bad as Islamic terrorists and the federal government needs vastly increased powers to spy on them. The stunning words from McCabe came during his recent speech at the University of Chicago, and were captured by a report in The Federalist about his comments on conservatives. "I can tell you from my perspective of spending a lot of time focused on the radicalization of international terrorists and Islamic extremist and extremists of all stripes … is that this group shares many of the same characteristics of those groups that we've seen...

As the Biden administration scrambled to conduct a massive evacuation effort from Afghanistan, American officials quietly instructed U.S. citizens and at-risk Afghans, including Afghan commandos, to head to a secret CIA base outside Kabul to secure safe passage to the U.S. amid increased risks of a terrorist attack on the capital city’s main airport. The clandestine operation, which took place over several weeks in August, resulted in the successful evacuation of hundreds of American citizens and vulnerable Afghans, including members of the elite Afghan special forces and their family members. At least 1,000 Afghan commandos and their family members were...

Dr. Anthony Fauci denied that he deliberately suppressed the idea that the coronavirus could have leaked from the Wuhan lab that was experimenting on ways to enhance a bat virus to make it a more deadly pathogen that could be used to infect humans. “I would say my actions were more intuitively driven than consciously deliberate,” he contended. “If the Wuhan lab leak was revealed as the source of the pandemic I felt it would do irreparable harm to the scientific community. So, I came out strongly in favor of the natural mutation theory.” Fauci went on to point out...

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases head Dr. Anthony Fauci said Wednesday on “CBS This Morning” that it was “a bit of a distortion to say that we deliberately suppressed” the so-called lab leak theory that coronavirus originated from a lab in Wuhan, China. A French nuclear firm said it’s working to resolve a “performance issue” at a plant it partially owns in China’s Guangdong Province, following reports that U.S. authorities have been assessing a report of a possible leak at the facility amid warnings of an “imminent radiological threat,” according to reports. Framatome, a division of French power group EDF, told France 24 in a statement on June 14 that it’s “supporting resolution of a performance issue” at the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant, which is a joint venture between EDF and China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), located around 84 miles west of...

I’m a news junkie. I tend to watch five hours of cable news programming just about every day. While viewing I also read, or at least scan, five to six newspapers a day thanks to the internet, mostly from the Northeast, but sometimes from across the country. My addiction to news started decades ago, so of course I was familiar with the cases of famous whistle-blowers such as Chelsea Manning, Eric Snowden and – here’s a blast from the past – Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the infamous Pentagon Papers to newspapers back in 1971. I also know the stories of...

A February 2020 statement signed by more than two dozen scientists that claimed the coronavirus naturally jumped from humans to animals was “orchestrated” to hurt then-President Donald Trump politically, Sen. Lindsey Graham charged Tuesday night. “This is the Russia dossier all over again,” Graham (R-SC) told Fox News’ “Hannity.” “This stinks to high heaven. This is Lab-gate, China-gate, call it whatever you want to call it.” Graham was referring to a message published in the British medical journal The Lancet that dismissed the theory that the virus accidentally leaked out of a virology lab in Wuhan, China
