I’ve never seen such a nasty reaction to something so simple, honest, and sincere. Jay Leno appeared on the "Today Show" last week to discuss the importance of monitoring cholesterol. During the interview, Al Roker pivoted to ask if he missed hosting the “Tonight Show.” Leno’s answer detailed the reasons it’s no longer a forum he recognizes or misses. “Now everyone HAS to know your politics…When people see you as one-sided, it just makes it tough,” Leno said. “And look, I did it when Clinton was horny and Bush was dumb. It was just a little easier. You know, now...

Once upon a time Red State types were just like their Blue State brethren. They settled in for the night by watching Jay, Conan, Dave, or Jimmy. A few monologue jokes later, and they were off to dreamland with a grin on their faces. That was then, and by "then" we mean roughly five years ago. Today, some of the late-night faces have changed. Jay became Jimmy (Fallon). Dave gave way to Stephen (Colbert). And new talent like Trevor Noah, Jim Jefferies, and Chelsea Handler entered the arena. The entire tenor of late night changed, too. What was once a...

Not since John McCain selected Sarah Palin as his running mate have the vetting capacities of a powerful political force been cast into such doubt. When Trevor Noah was announced Monday as the next host of satirical powerhouse The Daily Show, most observers had little familiarity with the 31-year-old, South African–born comic, save perhaps for his three awkward appearances on the program with current host Jon Stewart. The New York Times piece announcing the succession threw up a few vague red flags (Comedy Central never auditioned Noah, who provided reporter Dave Itzkoff with a weirdly self-aggrandizing non sequitur comparing himself...

In a preview of the 2016 campaign, all five late night comics on Monday night mocked Ted Cruz, hitting the Republican as anti-immigrant, regressive and stupid. CBS host David Letterman didn't bother with a joke. Instead, he lectured, "Here's what I find interesting about Ted Cruz, he was born in Canada. His father fled to the United States from Cuba. Yet, Ted Cruz is against immigration. Isn't that odd?" He then sneered, "Ted Cruz could be president of the United States and if you thought the Secret Service was drinking before –" On TBS, Conan O'Brien hammered, "[Cruz] pledged to...

...The program will air Mondays through Thursdays at 11 p.m. Eastern... O'Brien quickly fired out a celebratory tweet. "The good news: I will be doing a show on TBS starting in November! The bad news: I'll be playing Rudy on the all new Cosby Show," he posted Monday on Twitter. The surprise announcement hit the same day O'Brien starts a two-month, nationwide comedy tour in Eugene, Ore., amid persistent reports that he was likely to claim Fox as his new late-night home... "In three months, I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I'm...

Hey guess what? Letterman's a slimeball, but Craig Ferguson has been kind of bipartisan in his comedy. His producer is Catherine Hoeven. Catherine Hoeven's brother is John Hoeven, the Republican governor of North Dakpota.

Jay Leno Finally some good news for the White House. Today, federal prosecutors told Karl Rove he will not be charged in the C.I.A. leak case. This is the best news for the White House since oil hit $70 a barrel. I'm sure you know, there's a big storm named Alberto heading toward Florida. See, even the hurricanes are getting smarter. They know a Hispanic hurricane has a better chance of getting into the United States. Democrats are not giving President Bush any credit for killing Zarqawi. Today, Al Gore blamed it on global warming. David Letterman Mayor Bloomberg might...

I used to think Jay Leno was pretty unbiased becaue he always seemed to hand it out evenly to both sides. This year we face a presidential election and Leno has been worse than ever in his shows. He usually only makes 1-2 jokes per day about Kerry and they're usually only just about the size of his head. Rather with Bush, he frequently shows taped bumblings, ridicules his policy, and comments that infer Bush is stupid and untruthful. Screw Leno. Screw his program. I'm dome watching it. I can see through his bias programming. Liberal Lettermen and Liberal Leno...
