The Kentucky county clerk who made herself a national celebrity by refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses was jailed Thursday for contempt of court. Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis was taken into custody by U.S. marshals, according to reporters on the scene. In sending her to jail, U.S. District Judge David Bunning ignored the American Civil Liberties Union's request that Davis be fined to compel compliance with orders that she issue marriage licenses.
