Everybody knows what the word "average" means and that it is the most widely used simple statistic. But it can be highly misleading. That occurred to me in two recent news reports. One article a week ago detailed how households would be affected if we returned to the tax rates in effect from 1994 to 2001, including an elaborate tabulation of the average annual increase for taxpayers by state. The second article dealt with average life expectancies relating to the solvency of Social Security and Medicare. In the first article, the tax increases detailed ranged from an average of about...
  • Is Obama Programing Media Matters Or Is It The Other Way Around?

There has been a lot of chatter about the blockbuster report at the Daily Caller revealing the extent to which the self-proclaimed “media watchdog” outfit Media Matters for America is joined at the hip with the White House. Many are shocked at just how much Obama is seemingly programming the media with the supposedly independent Media Matters acting as its pipeline to the Old Media. Shockingly, Daily Caller notes that MMFA is even holding teleconference briefings with members of Obama’s administration and the subsequent salting of the results of those meetings among the Old Media’s coverage seems to be a...
  • Why In God’s Name Is The GOP Consenting to Let a Journolist Member Moderate a Debate? (Oct 11)

Before the MNSBC-Politico Debate, I wondered why in God’s name the Republican candidates would bother giving press and air time to a bunch of liberals asking snide questions down their noses to the GOP about issues not one person cares about. After that debate it convinced me the GOP candidates should be more discerning in their debates. And now, as Ben Domenech notes and I too can confirm, I think the candidates should boycott the Washington Post Bloomberg debate on October 11th. The debate is billed by the Washington Post as “exclusively” about the economy. I had relished them having this...
  • Exclusive Interview: Big Journalism’s Gina Loudon Exposes Vanity Fair Reporter’s Hit Piece

Radio interview with Dr. Gina Loudon. Dr. Loudon was the woman who busted Michael Gross for his lies in the hit piece that was published in Vanity Fair. At the 18:50 mark in the podcast (grand total it's about thirty minutes long), she brings up that Michael Gross visited Joe McGinniss in Alaska. McGinniss if you'll recall is the creep who rented the house next door to the Palin's in order to spy on them. I highly recommend giving this a listen
