On Monday afternoon, just before 3:30 p.m., the couple heard their animals making the kind of noises that might warrant an inspection. According to Lieutenant Michael Arens of the San Diego County Sheriff's San Marcos Station, the couple went outside for peace of mind, but instead saw 36-year-old Alexander Belinksy attempting to abscond with one their goats. The couple attempted to intervene, but Belinsky allegedly threw them to the ground. The 79-year-old may have regarded goat theft to be a matter suited to remedy by bare hands, but an assault on his wife was apparently cause for a constitutionally-protected riposte....

San Francisco city officials unveiled a new self-cleaning toilet last week. Designed to reflect San Francisco values, the toilet stopped working within days of its inaugural flush. This latest dysfunction in the Democrat-run city casts doubt not only on the whether the designers followed through on their aim of coming up with something as "indestructible as possible," but also on the utility of the city building 24 toilets just like it. Touted by the San Francisco Chronicle as the "future of public toilets," a so-called self-cleaning "Amenipod" was recently installed at the edge of Embarcadero Plaza and opened to the...

Michigan State Spartans head coach Mel Tucker made good on a promise to "take swift and appropriate action" after unsportsmanlike conduct turned violent in Ann Arbor on Saturday. Four MSU athletes have been suspended for their alleged involvement in the assaults on Michigan Wolverines players Ja’Den McBurrows and Gemon Green. On Sunday, Tucker announced that upon reviewing "disturbing electronic evidence collected to date," linebacker Itayvion Brown, cornerback Khary Crump, safety Angelo Grose, and defensive end Zion Young were suspended, "effective immediately." The four athletes allegedly targeted McBurrows and Green in the Michigan Stadium tunnel after the Spartans' 29-7 defeat in...

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives passed a bill to alter the 1887 Electoral Count Act. The so called "Presidential Election Reform Act" revises rules pertaining to the congressional certification of presidential elections, which some contend will benefit Democrats. The bill was sponsored by Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who lost her primary race in August and leaves office on January 3, along with Democrat Rep. Zoe Lofgren, both of whom are on the January 6 Committee. [cut] Extending elections Among the changes this bill makes to the 135-year-old law is an extension of time for a presidential election. In the...
  • Michigan town defunds 'groomer' library over its insistence on including graphic LGBT content in young adult section

After a protracted battle over its LGBT content, residents of Jamestown Township, Michigan, voted no (62.5% to 37.5%) on August 2 to a 10-year millage renewal and increase for the Patmos Library. (A millage rate is the tax rate used to determine local property taxes.) Bridge Michigan has reported that 84% of the library’s $245,000 annual budget derives from the now rejected millage, which means, according to library board president Larry Walton, Patmos will likely run out of funds in early 2023, despite the library having $325,000 in reserve. It will also mean residents won't have their property taxes raised...
