University of California Regent John Moores, a frequent critic of his fellow board members, has resigned from the panel, the university announced today. Moores, a San Diego resident and chairman of the San Diego Padres baseball team, was appointed to the board by Gov. Gray Davis in 1999. His resignation is effective immediately, and no reason for his decision was immediately available.
