    SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Jimmy Smith, an award-winning jazz organist who was considered a pioneer with the instrument, died of natural causes Tuesday at his home here. He was 79. "Jimmy Smith transformed the organ into a jazz instrument.
