Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush defended the term “anchor babies” Monday during a visit to McAllen, saying the comment wouldn’t hurt him with Hispanic voters. Bush stopped at Palenque Grill on Monday — after a fundraiser at the McAllen Country Club and meeting with local leaders — to speak about immigration and border security. Action 4 News reporter Analise Ortiz asked Bush about using the derogatory term “anchor babies” during an interview with talk show host Bill Bennett on Aug. 19. “What I was talking about is the specific case of fraud being committed, where there’s organized efforts,” Bush said....
