Speaking truth to power isn't allowed in Sacramento A California lawmaker who fled Communist Vietnam as a child decided to tell the truth about the late former state senator Tom Hayden and his treasonable behavior during the Vietnam War. Hayden died Oct. 23 at 76 after a lifetime of seditious, anti-American behavior, including collaborating with America’s enemies during wartime. California state senator Janet Nguyen’s (R-Garden Grove) attempt to speak truth to power was cut short by Hayden’s allies in the Democrat-dominated California legislature who objected to her setting the record straight about Hayden.

Several of the rally attendees told me that what happened to Senator Nguyen, they had witnessed communists in Vietnam doing to their people. They were astounded this could happen in the California State Senate in the United States Several hundred members of the Vietnamese American community traveled to the State Capitol in Sacramento, CA Monday to demonstrate their support of Sen. Janet Nguyen (R-Garden Grove), including more than 100 Vietnamese Americans who rode the bus from Nguyen’s Orange County district. Nguyen was forcibly removed from the Senate Floor Feb. 23, 2017 for speaking about the late Senator Tom Hayden, and...

"I was told I could prepare a statement for my Senate website or my Facebook page," Nguyen said. California State Sen. Janet Nguyen (R-Garden Grove), was forcibly removed from the Senate Thursday morning for offering a different perspective on the late Sen. Tom Hayden, a Democrat with a well-known and lengthy history of communist sympathies. The perspective Sen. Nguyen offers is first hand. Her family escaped communist Vietnam and came to the United States in search of freedom in 1981 during Ronald Reagan’s presidency.

State Republican lawmakers said they will introduce a constitutional amendment that would prohibit state funded colleges and universities from banning the American flag on campuses, a move that comes a week after a student government council at UC Irvine banned the flag from being displayed in a school lobby. UC Irvine’s broader student government body vetoed the controversial measure on Saturday. But, Sen. Janet Nguyen and fellow Republicans said they will move forward with the constitutional amendment. Nguyen and her family fled Vietnam as refugees, which Reeder said made the issue of banning the American flag personal. “For her it’s...
  • Election 2014: OC shift in GOP's relationship with Asian-Americans

California Democrats were unable to regain their two-thirds legislative supermajority in the state Senate and lost ground in the Assembly, at least in part due to the victories of two Republican candidates from Orange County — both women, both Asian-American. The victories of Janet Nguyen in the 34th state Senate District and Young Kim in the 65th Assembly District over Democratic rivals could signal a shift in the Orange County political landscape – and more broadly, in the GOP’s relationship with Asian-Americans. University of California, Riverside political scientist Karthick Ramakrishnan said the victories represent a nuanced picture of an electorate...

Two Orange County candidates – facing off in a key state Senate race – pushed their platforms to win votes and encourage voter turnout in November during a forum Wednesday. County Supervisor Janet Nguyen, a Garden Grove Republican, and former state Assemblyman Jose Solorio, a Santa Ana Democrat, took part in a 34th Senate District candidate forum moderated by former television news anchor Ed Arnold at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach. A political who’s who from the county, cities and special-interest groups attended. The event was sponsored by the Orange County Public Affairs Association. Both candidates emphasized the importance...
