Morrisville, N.C. — The president of the North Carolina NAACP was escorted off an American Airlines flight Friday night. Rev. William Barber was returning to Raleigh from Washington, D.C., when, he says, he was removed from the flight. [snip]Barber said a passenger in a seat nearby was talking loudly as the plane filled up and asked the stewardess to request the passenger lower his voice. After requesting assistance from the flight attendant, Barber said he overheard the nearby passenger making "distasteful" and "disparaging" comments about him. According to Barber's statement, the passenger said he had problems with "those people" and...

WAGONER, Okla. — Police arrested a woman they said was intoxicated and not wearing any pants at an Oklahoma high school Monday. The woman, Lorie Hill, was a newly hired teacher for Wagoner Public Schools. She was found by two other teachers in a Wagoner High School classroom on the first day back at school for teachers. If you haven't seen it, a design company in Portland has created a video called 4 Rules to Make Star Wars Great Again. They've also set up a website and a petition which they are hoping 1 million people will sign.(VIDEO-AT-LINK)I like the video. It's very well produced and I'm sure the creators will get a lot of traffic. That said, I think you can boil all of these rules down to one underlying concept. The Star Wars universe was driven by a realistic sense of capitalist enterprise, specifically the idea of secondary and black markets that exist outside the...

Stuart Freeborn, the British make-up artist renowned for his contributions to 2001: A Space Odyssey and the Star Wars films, has died at the age of 98. Largely self-taught, his six-decade career saw him create make-up and prosthetics for such cinematic legends as Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers.

“Capitalism is evil,” says Michael Moore. “You have to eliminate it”. Hmm. Let’s examine that statement for a moment. One of this blog’s constant plaints is that a certain kind of Leftie – Michael Moore being a prime example – regards the holding of opposed opinions as the quintessence of wickedness. A man might fiddle his taxes, lie to his friends or betray his wife, but none of these things is as reprehensible as, say, asserting that immigration rules are too lax. Our generation, more than any in the past, has elevated the moralistic (voicing the right opinions) over the...

NEW YORK -- Her tenure short but hardly sweet, Rosie O'Donnell said Wednesday she will leave "The View" in June after less than a year of feuds, headlines and higher ratings for ABC. The opinionated host said she and ABC couldn't agree on a new contract -- she wanted one more year, ABC wanted to lock her up for three. So she decided to leave, although she will appear occasionally next season for things like a planned one-hour special on autism. O'Donnell made more than $3 million for her season on "The View." ABC was willing to spend more to...

Headline, Rosie to leave the View today. Thank God.

As co-host of ABC’s The View, Rosie O’Donnell has used her daytime perch to push an array of extreme left-wing and anti-American views. Soon after her debut in September 2006, O’Donnell used the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks to insist that "radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam." In a similar vein, she advised her audience: "Don’t fear the terrorists. They’re mothers and fathers," while suggesting that "the Patriot Act has robbed us of us our civil liberties in this country, that fear has taken over from faith in democracy, in the Constitution?" In March, O’Donnell even suggested...

April 24, 2007 — It all started with a joke. Wrapping up a nationwide global warming tour, singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow posted a quirky "solution" online about a new way to save the environment. She wrote: "I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting." She told the joke to get people's attention, and it worked. Talk show hosts had a field day with Crow's comments. "Have you seen my [backside]?" Rosie O'Donnell joked on "The View." "It seemed like Sheryl was trying to be a little bit cheeky, no...

Rosie on Catholic Justices: 'How About Separation of Church and State?' Posted by Justin McCarthy on April 19, 2007 - 14:37.On April 19, the ladies of "The View" offered their analysis of the Gonzales v. Carhart decision upholding a federal partial birth abortion ban. Most of the segment was a back and forth between Rosie O’Donnell, who clearly opposed the decision and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who supported it. Joy Behar and Barbara Walters chimed in occasionally with Behar clearly in the abortion rights camp and Barbara Walters mildly there. Video: Real (1.4 MB) or Windows (1.6 MB); plus MP3 (256...
