Michael Moore and the unquestioning self-righteousness of the Left

“Capitalism is evil,” says Michael Moore. “You have to eliminate it”.

Hmm. Let’s examine that statement for a moment. One of this blog’s constant plaints is that a certain kind of Leftie – Michael Moore being a prime example – regards the holding of opposed opinions as the quintessence of wickedness. A man might fiddle his taxes, lie to his friends or betray his wife, but none of these things is as reprehensible as, say, asserting that immigration rules are too lax.

Our generation, more than any in the past, has elevated the moralistic (voicing the right opinions) over the moral (doing the right thing). You might work tirelessly for charity, you might be honest, generous, kind and hospitable, but it counts for nothing if you don’t – for example – disapprove of multi-national corporations.

The perverse priorities of our age were exemplified by the denial of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize to Irena Sendler, who had saved the lives of hundreds of babies by smuggling them out of the Warsaw ghetto, in favour of Al Gore (see here). Repeatedly risking your life to rescue children counts for less, these days, than making a politically correct film.

One of the things you pick up very early in the world of blogging and Twitter is how fond Lefties are of the word “evil”, as in “evil Tory scum”. Having dismissed the concept of evil as traditionally understood by monotheistic religions, they have transferred the label to a set of beliefs of which they disapprove.

“You say it’s not OK to be gay, well I think you’re just evil,” sings Lily Allen. Evil? Look, I opposed Section 28 back in the earliest days when it was still called Section 27, and I supported same-sex unions and the

Anyone who would listen to what is crapbag has to say is a total moron...wait a minute, that would mean that the left is morons.
This “man” is a disgusting, lying, backshooting piece of filth.
I would be happy to see Moore be the third man in the left tri-fecta of death. As long as it is a long, drawn out cancer like death.

If capitalism is so evil my suggestion to this jackass is to move out of his posh digs on the Upper West Side and go live with the bag ladies down in Hell’s Kitchen. Hypocrisy oozes out of every pore of his fat pathetic self.

Doesn’t Mikie make and sell a product/service at whatever rate the market will bear? (ie, capitalism)

Why does he not use price controls on his movie tickets? Or adjust the price of a movie ticket to the income of the customer?

What does Mikie do with the profit from his movies? Give it away?

“He lives in a million-dollar apartment, and boasts of that as well. “I walk among them. I live on the island of Manhattan, a three-mile-wide strip of land that is luxury home and corporate suite to America’s elite..... Those who run your life live in my neighborhood. I walk in the streets with them each day” (Michael Moore, Stupid White Men, p. 51). For vacations, he keeps another million-dollar beachfront house in Michigan.

“You would think that he’s the ultimate common man. But he’s money-obsessed,” said one associate.

He sends his child to a private school — no sense associating with the working class — and has some trouble associating with them himself. The New York Post reported on a tantrum he threw in London: “Then, on his second-to-last night, [Michael Moore] raged against everyone connected with the Roundhouse and complained that he was being paid a measly $750 a night. ‘He completely lost the plot,’ a member of the stage crew told the London Evening Standard. ‘He stormed around all day screaming at everyone, even the 5 pound-an-hour bar staff, telling them how we were all con men and useless. Then he went on stage and did it in public.’ At his last appearance, staffers refused to work or even open the theater’s doors.” NY Post, Jan. 8, 2003.”

“To celebrate today’s Oscar Madison awards in Hollywood, here’s a piece on comical, hysterical, spherical Michael Moore:
Perhaps nothing irritates Moore more than criticism of his lifestyle.

He’s been known to refer to his house on 10 acres of Torch Lake frontage as a cabin, as if it were a place with four walls, a roof, an outhouse and a stack of cordwood to beat back the chill in winter.

Technically, it is a log cabin. Two stories. According to Antrim County records, the home is worth $1.2 million.

Former Moore pal Ben Hamper — “I’m just another person he’s outgrown” — has an interesting theory about Moore’s capacity for denial:

At an appearance at Michigan State University in late January, Moore took questions after his two-hour talk. A student asked if rumors about him building on a wetland Up North were true.

Silence. Then: “Don’t know what you’re talking about.”

According to state records, Moore partially filled in a wetland to improve his beach. He quickly fixed the problem and wasn’t fined.

Why deny it?

“A pathological need to be right,” Hamper said.

What lefties have never been able to get over is that some people by dint of intelligence and hard work will end up with “more” than some other people. It drives them nuts that some guy who creates a gizmo can garner millions while the leftist/lib sits in his university office, publishes his required paper every now and then, and gets next to nothing for it. Even his colleagues sleep through his dissertations. “It’s not fair” is a cry I’ve heard since I was teenager. It was usually said by a person who had “more” than me. Envy of what other people have never appealed to me much.

What a pig. Thanks for the ammo. Problem is there is so much ammo against the left it’s hard to keep track of. I think that’s why they promote and lift up guys like Moore and Barney Frank and Clinton, etc. . . . they consciously define deviancy down so that no one on the left can be attacked for anything . . .

That’s their goal it seems . . .

The "Sicko" gets sicker -- he applied for a 42% tax credit Michigan offers to produce movies in the state. That credit is paid for by Michigan taxpayers!!
