Don’t believe rumors circulating online that the IRS will place liens on homes if owners fail to buy health insurance as mandated under the Affordable Care Act, local and state real estate organizations are saying. The Wichita Area Association of Realtors addresses the rumor in its weekly report today. “Thankfully, this rumor is completely false as Congress specifically prohibited the IRS from filing liens against real property to enforce the individual mandate to purchase health insurance,” the report says.
