KENNETT SQUARE, Pa., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Kentucky Derby champion Barbaro continues to gradually improve from injuries suffered in the Preakness, veterinarians in Pennsylvania said Tuesday. Barbaro suffered injuries to three bones in and around his right hind ankle at the start of the Preakness on May 20. It was feared the horse, which had won the Kentucky Derby by 6 1/2 lengths, would have to be destroyed.
