  • Chicago Residents Reject Blaming Greg Abbott for Migrant Crisis

Numerous Chicago residents, including multiple Black Democrats, have sued the city in response to the influx of migrants, and they blame President Joe Biden, not people like Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. Abbott has been arguably the loudest voice against the Biden administration's immigration policies, which resulted in about 300,000 migrants—nearly 10,000 per day—coming into the United States through Mexico in December alone. Federal border agents encountered about 2.5 million migrants in total last year, according to data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), surpassing the previous record high from a year earlier.
  • Home Loans to Illegal Immigrants Sturdy But Show Some Cracks

Despite the downturn of the mortgage market, a type of home loan has remained surprisingly sturdy: one extended to illegal immigrants. Now, the question is whether these loans will continue to hold up. A number of factors -- including a possible government crackdown on illegal workers and a slowdown in job prospects for undocumented laborers -- threaten the ability of these borrowers to keep paying. And there are signs of a slowdown as some lenders have raised the interest rates they charge because of the recent mayhem in the credit markets. Known as ITIN mortgages because applicants must have an...
  • Fred Thompson and Anti-Southern Bigotry

Hugh Hewitt wondered aloud on his radio show this week if Fred Thompson might not be a good GOP nominee for President because the country “might not want another slow talking Southerner after Bush.” He’s not the only GOP commentator I have heard express this sentiment. Every time I hear someone say this, I have to wonder if the person saying it is projecting their own anti-southern bigotry onto the American public or if their really is a large bloc of voters that would base their vote on where someone is from and/or how fast they talk. It was especially...

WELCOME TO RECONQUISTA By Michelle Malkin   ·   March 27, 2006 09:42 AM ***scroll for updates...Bush warns against stoking anti-immigrant feelings. Wants a "civil debate." Video here...Ok. Tell that to the divisive militants below...*** As Mickey Kaus points out, the reporters at the Los Angeles Times (and all other major media, for that matter) have downplayed the radical ethnic separatism that characterized the pro-illegal immigration rallies over the weekend. While the Times misleadingly asserted that the Los Angeles rally "featured more American flags than those from any other country," its reporters conveniently ignored marchers with extremist signs and banners advocating...
  • Dad of slain children stoic, detective says

    07/14/2005 11:20:26 AM PDT · by JZelle · 7 replies · 516+ views
BALTIMORE -- A veteran homicide detective, who became choked up when testifying yesterday about the three Mexican children butchered and killed in their apartment last year, said the father of two of the victims appeared stoic when questioned by police the day of the killings. "He didn't show any outward signs of emotion," Baltimore Detective Sgt. Darryl Massey said. Sgt. Massey had to pause to collect himself when he recalled seeing the bodies of Lucero Solis Quezada, 8, her brother Ricardo Solis Quezada Jr., 9, and their 10-year-old cousin Alexis Espejo Quezada. The children were beaten with an aluminum baseball...

Flash: Newseek has apologized. The magazine's editor says he is sorry for printing a possibly "mistaken" article that accused U.S. interrogators at Guantanamo of throwing copies of the Koran into prisoners' toilets. Evidently, Newsweek particularly regrets the murderous anti-American rioting the erroneous report set off in various parts of the Muslim world. Ironic though it may seem, we might just owe Newsweek a debt of gratitude for its shoddy reportage. After all, it provided a wake-up call to see how quickly and how skillfully our enemies seized upon evidence of American purported hostility to Islam to advance their own agenda.
