An anti-Obama beer in the red state of Oklahoma is in high demand. Thousands of bottles of Nobama Brew have been sold, according to Rick Huebert, the owner of Huebert Brewing Co., which brews the beer. Huebert told local Oklahoma TV station KFOR that the appeal is in the politics of the beer. "I would say the political message is what caught their interest," Huebert, who says he's never been a fan of the president. Huebert said he can't make the beer fast enough.

Osteoporosis Less Common In Beer Drinkers Drinking a few beers could help you keep strong bones as you age, researchers from the University of California, Davis reported. They said in a news release that a new study suggests beer is a significant source of silicon, which helps increase mineral density in bones. Lead author Charles Bamforth said it had not previously been clear why the brewing process ended up with so much silicon in beer. One finding in the study was that hops contributes four times the silicon that is found in the malt from barley.

On his segment of today's CNN Newsroom, anchor Rick Sanchez went for the hat trick, likening Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to the infamous Theophilus “Bull” Connor, Birmingham, Alabama’s late segregationist police commissioner who ruthlessly used police attack dogs and fire hoses to thwart 1963 civil rights demonstrators, no fewer than three times. Sanchez prefaced his interview with the Arizona sheriff: Well, perhaps not since Bull Connor whose aggressive police tactics against blacks in the South sparked civil rights legislation in 1964 has our country seen a showdown like the one going on right now between Maricopa County sheriff Joe...

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. - One of the biggest shopping days of the year is also a busy time for Jack Daniel's famous whiskey distillery and its gift shop. Rather than fight the crowds at the mall, many people chose to kick off the holiday shopping season with a trip to Lynchburg, where the words "Black Friday" took on new meaning. "It's Black Friday, but that's because people want the black label," said Michelle Wilson, who toured the distillery in Moore County on Friday. The iconic black label bottles are not sold in the dry county though the state Legislature made a...

Even as studies have consistently found an association between moderate alcohol consumption and reduced heart attack risk in men, an important question has persisted: What if the men who drank in moderation were the same individuals who maintained good eating habits, didn't smoke, exercised and watched their weight - How would you know that their reduced risk of myocardial infarction wasn't the result of one or more of these other healthy habits? A new study led by researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) helps answer this question. Reported in the...

    1. If you owe someone money, always pay them back in a bar. Preferably during happy hour. 2. Always toast before doing a shot. 3. Whoever buys the shot gets the first chance to offer a toast. 4. Change your toast at least once a month. 5. Buying someone a drink is five times better than a handshake. 6. Buying a strange woman a drink is still cool. Buying all her drinks is dumb. 7. Never borrow more than one cigarette from the same person in one night. 8. When the bartender is slammed, resist the powerful urge to order...

Alcohol, as it turns out, may be an effective and safe alternative to dangerous and complicated surgical procedures for patients suffering from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy is an excessive thickening of the heart muscle, which blocks the flow of blood out of the heart and to the rest of the body. It is thought to be a major cause of sudden heart failure deaths among athletes and young people. The alcohol treatment, developed and put into practice at the Bikur Holim hospital in Jerusalem, involves the injection of alcohol (97%) directly into the blood vessels supplying the engorged area of...
