NEW YORK - Doers and doings in business, entertainment and technology: Flash: Newspaper reports baseless rumor? Readers are wondering if the New York Post has done it again. On Wednesday, the News Corp. tabloid reported that Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio were beginning the dance of merger negotiations. But the Post, every Gothamite's guilty pleasure, has a colorful history of shooting from the hip: Last year, the newssheet, famed for its "Headless Body in Topless Bar" front page, became a darling of eBay shoppers when it declared that presidential candidate John Kerry would pick Dick Gephardt as his...

Howard Stern says he was pulled off four radio stations this week for using a pair of newly forbidden words: Satellite radio. Citadel Broadcasting Corp., which aired Stern's envelope-pushing syndicated show, opted to yank the program Monday because the host was devoting too much time to his impending switch to Sirius Satellite Radio, Stern told his listeners. Stern's decision to abandon terrestrial radio is often a topic of conversation on his show. Citadel felt the program had become "an infomercial" for Stern's next employer and pulled the plug, the shock jock said. Stern's show had aired on Citadel stations in...

"It is apparent to most of us in broadcasting that your father got you your job," said Stern, who called in while Powell was being interviewed on San Francisco's KGO-AM 810. Powell shot back that his father, Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites), had nothing to do with his appointment. The FCC...

Thanks to his impassioned late-night pleas about health care and gun control, CNN has called Jimmy Kimmel “America’s conscience.” Jimmy Kimmel? This is the man who, along with bro-tastic podcaster Adam Carolla, brought you the Juggies, women in skimpy bikinis who ended each episode of The Man Show by bouncing on trampolines.... A friend insists that Kimmel has transformed from a chauvinistic joker into an empathetic conversationalist. (The friend, in this case, is Howard Stern.) There’s a lot that New Howard has left behind. When his show moved to satellite radio in 2004, Old Howard was like a kid in...

Howard Stern says he could launch a White House bid in 2024 against former President Trump, quipping he knows he'll "beat his ass." The SiriusXM host said Tuesday that running for president could be his "civic duty" if Trump, who has repeatedly floated but not confirmed a 2024 bid, was to seek a second term. “I would just sit there and play that f---ing clip of him trying to fix the election, over and over again,” Stern said, referring to Trump's phone call in January with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, in which the then-president sought to persuade him...

Howard Stern is again on the warpath against people who oppose his vaccination ideals, especially NBA player Kyrie Irving who Stern is now calling the “top idiot in the world.” Stern, who now hosts a Sirius program, finally returned from another vacation and immediately went on the attack against the 29-year-old Brooklyn Nets star for refusing to take the coronavirus vaccine. Stern led by saying that Irving is “the biggest idiot in the country right now,” Outkick noted. “Talk about stupid, there’s some people who are willing to walk away from millions of dollars and not get vaccinated,” Stern blathered...

Aniston shared several photos of pro-abortion protesters on her Instagram page Sunday, likely from the protest. Best known for her role on the sitcom “Friends,” she also posted a GIF from the show when...

On Tuesday, Stern inked a new five-year deal with Sirius reportedly worth upwards of $100 million a year. One of radio’s biggest stars for decades, his 2020 net worth is estimated at more than half a billion dollars. Yet if past is prologue, former staffers say rank-and-file employees won’t see their share of the spoils — and that, besides being a penny-pincher, Stern was often a terror to work with. “Worse than Ellen [DeGeneres],” one industry insider told The Post. “The hallway had to be cleared out before he walks down,” said Melendez, whose interviews with celebrities like Gennifer Flowers...
