Alec Baldwin and the crew of Rust have been accused of breaking at least four key movie industry gun safety protocols before the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins. Baldwin and his co-workers appear to have violated rules from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, against pointing a gun at a member of the cast or crew unless absolutely necessary. The alliance's rules - last revised in April 2003 - warn: 'Refrain from pointing the firearm at anyone, including yourself. If it is absolutely necessary to do so on camera, consult the property master or other safety representative... Remember that...

A man was shot in the buttocks around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (May 26) near the intersection of Delachaise and South Saratoga streets, according to New Orleans police. A woman who lives in the 2100 block of Delachaise said she saw a group of perhaps five young people fooling around with two parked school buses in the block. It looked like they were shaking the bus and messing with the mirrors, she said. One of her neighbors approached the group and told them to cut it out, the woman said, and they cursed back at him. They told him "you...

Either way, a state appellate court panel says roughhousing with a sexual connotation by a pair of 14-year-old Somerset County boys was a crime that requires them to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives. In a decision handed down Monday, the three-judge panel acknowledged the severity of its decision, but said it was bound to uphold the law. "We are keenly aware that...

District Attorney Berry told reporter Susan Goldsmith of the Oregonian that his department "aggressively" pursues sex crimes. "These cases are devastating to children," he said. "They are life-altering cases." No, sir. The only one devastating children's lives is you. If you "win," and these "criminals" are convicted, 20, 30 years from now – applying for a job, volunteering for a community program, heading north for a weekend in Vancouver and watching the Customs guard swipe the driver's license through the computer – there'll be a blip, something will come up on the screen, and for the umpteenth time two middle-age...

WASHINGTON, July 27, 2007 – There’s no horsing around when it comes to helping servicemembers down the road to recovery, as far as one troop-support group is concerned. “‘Back in the Saddle Bit by Bit’ … helps wounded military heroes and their families regain physical and mental fitness by riding and working with horses,” Jeanie Clifford, the organization’s founder, said. “BITS is a (nonprofit) entity and operates as a clearinghouse that identifies qualified programs around the country so that these heroes can participate in these programs close to home.” Case studies have proven that equine therapy helps improve self-esteem,...

1. The Attention Grab: The interrogator forcefully grabs the shirt front of the prisoner and shakes him. 2. Attention Slap: An open-handed slap aimed at causing pain and triggering fear. 3. New York's firefighters are known by many names. Traditionally, they are called the Bravest. After 9/11, many called us the Heroes. Within the FDNY, some refer to themselves as the Brotherhood. Unfortunately, many firefighters have other names for their colleagues that are racial, ethnic or sexual slurs. I know, because I served more than 20 years in the FDNY, and I'm also a gay man. I heard those terms used and saw them scrawled on walls countless times in firehouses throughout the city. On New Year's Eve, one firefighter attacked another in an assault preceded by what some newspapers are...
