DEARBORN, Mo. (KCTV) - An unknown man was shot and killed when he attempted to force his way into a rural Missouri home after he prayed to a horse and attacked a dog.
The Platte County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office says that around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, emergency crews were called to the 15000 block of Masonic Dr. in Dearborn with reports of a suspicious individual.
The homeowner reported a partially clothed man had arrived at their home and began to pray to a horse before he attacked their dog. When he attempted to force his way into the home, the homeowner then shot him.
When law enforcement officials arrived, they said they found the suspicious man dead at the entrance of the home. He has been described as a white man in his 30s or 40s.
As a result of the shooting, investigators indicated that North Platte School District was put on lockdown for about an hour. The lockdown has since been waved and students and staff have gone about their daily activities.
The Sheriff’s Office said the incident remains under investigation.
I was thinking the same thing. Very odd behavior. I hope he learned his lesson.
“.. Lockdown has since been waved..”
Was it Kamala and her big gun?/s
not knowing the mental and/or emotional state of the intruder and him getting dead for it is exactly why our overlords want us disarmed...so no one will needlessly die at the hands of a frightened homeowner who fears for their life. except that harris person. she has a gun and WILL use it.
This guy sounds like one of those Meth addicts who sneaks onto other folks property with the intention of “having a relationship with” somebody’s horse or other non consenting livestock. The watchdog called him out, and was attacked for doing his duty.
“.. Lockdown has since been waved..”
What’s the point anymore. You’ll just ‘loose’ your mind trying to keep up.
I know. Right?
Very bizarre. A citizen reporter could inquire about what lead to such bizarre behavior. HOORAY homeowner!
Just to play devils advocate - I’m curious if it was actually necessary to kill the man?
Because this homeowner is now going to have to spend the rest of their lifetime knowing they took a life. That’s a hell of a burden for anyone (even big-talkers).
Too many people are quick on the FAFO response (see above and below this post) and don’t consider this other aspect of a killing.
I would bet he is off his meds.
Happened next door.
Luckily they didn’t have to shoot the guy.
Meth or PCP. Meth causes hyperthermia, and subjects often remove clothing in an attempt to cool off.

Not everyone thinks like that. If someone was trying to break down my door after he attacked my dog, I could shoot him without hesitation and never lose a wink of sleep.
No, a lot of people don’t think like that.
Until they get on the other side of such an event. For every person intent on ‘self-protection’, it’s worth spending some time pondering.
It probably wasn’t. The homeowner should’ve taken the morally superior high ground and allowed the man to continue “forcing his way into the house,” and waited for a social worker to show up and ask him about his feelings.
That he had already committed violence on an animal is trivial. His intentions with the family were probably wholesome and peaceful, as the man just wanted to invite them to his new church in the pasture.
I’m sure the homeowner’s grappling with shooting someone will far outweigh the relief that a deranged, violent individual was unable to harm the homeowner or his family.
*Note to the slow - the above is sarcasm
The only thing worth pondering about after such an event is what are we having for dinner.
Some folks with a keen sense of self preservation and protect the family will probably find the lifetime burden (if any) is very livable with in place of losing a family member or themselves being maimed. Other than big talkers as noted, folks that have had to make that decision multiple times, like ex military or police I think are able to reconcile 'it was him or me' quite easily.
You kill it, you eat it?
That's a BIG disincentive for potential home invaders...
