Tina Lewis, who had visited the Rose Nails salon a week prior to the incident to get her eyelashes done, had returned to receive a pedicure. Instead, she was told by an employee, Marie Bui, that the salon chairs were not big enough for her to sit in. Lewis, who gets her nails done every two weeks, has never had an experience like this before(snip) "I was like, 'Can I get a pedicure? And what chair do I sit in?' And [the employee] was like, the chairs were not big enough for me to sit in. And I was like,...

Sources in the Ukrainian intelligence and security community said Dec. 12 it was unlikely that opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko was poisoned by his political opponents. The sources say that if Yushchenko's opponents had decided to poison him, they could have used much deadlier and non-recognizable poisons, which are easily available for secret services in several countries in the world. The sources say that Yushchenko's political opponents easily could have tasked specialized professionals to execute the poisoning in such a way that it would have left no proof of deliberate poisoning. 1845 GMT - Tepttu Vartiainen, the leading scientist from a...

11/5/04 Dear Friends, Ok, it sucks. Really sucks. But before you go and cash it all in, let's, in the words of Monty Python, 'always look on the bright side of life!' There IS some good news from Tuesday's election. Here are 17 reasons not to slit your wrists: 1. It is against the law for George W. Bush to run for president again. 2. Bush's victory was the NARROWEST win for a sitting president since Woodrow Wilson in 1916. 3. The only age group in which the majority voted for Kerry was young adults (Kerry: 54%, Bush: 44%), proving...

  • Here's what has some of DU in an uproar

Go to www.franklincountyohio.gov. Go to the election results. One district (Gahanna 1-B) shows Bush getting more votes than total votes cast in every other race. Each race is showing approx. 600 votes. Bush alone got more than 4000.

The Franklin County Board of elections has posted a PDF file showing the precinct totals in the county. One of the precincts is clearly in error, Gahanna 1B, which lists Bush with 4258 votes, to Kerry's 260. No precinct has that many voters, and in fact the "public precinct count" for that precinct (number of voters who entered a voting booth) is listed as only 638. So Bush was given about 4000 spurious votes in that precinct. I sent an email to the news editor of the Columbus Dispatch and got a reply saying that the Dispatch staff noticed the...
