Calling all able bodied Patriots!! We have close to 1,600 Bush/Cheney signs to put up in South Palm Beach County over the next two nights. The sign crews will be out all night every night and we need your help! Come even if you can only do a few hours! We will be signing from Boynton to Boca. We also need volunteers early Tuesday morning to patrol polling locations and put up signs if they’ve been ripped down by Dem thugs. If you have step ladders, staple guns, and staplers bring them, we do not have enough stakes for all...

The Kerry campaign is calling on a heavy hitter from its bench: Former President Bill Clinton plans to hit the trail for the Democratic presidential hopeful Monday in the battleground state of Pennsylvania. "I'm going out tomorrow," Clinton told ABC News' Diane Sawyer today in an exclusive interview airing today on "World News Tonight," Monday on "Good Morning America," and Thursday on "Primetime." Both campaigns are relying on star power in the final days. The Bush campaign has California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger stumping for the president in Ohio this week. Clinton, who recently had heart bypass surgery, said he did...

NINE days to GO! Re-Electing President Bush is the most important ISSUE of my lifetime, not only because the security of the United States is at stake, but also because Kerry will wreck havoc to our way of life by appointing judges that will squash the rights of the unborn, and will certainly destroy the sanctity of marriage by allowing same sex marriage.I know for a fact that the most important religious symbol for many Latinos is the "Virgin of Guadalupe" but I also know that this particular symbol is the most IMPORTANT symbol to Mexicans and many Central...

Hey, kind hearts. A prayer request…my wife’s mom, 80+, went to the hospital to have a heart valve replaced. (My dad had this done this summer and came through fine.) The replacement went fine, but she suffered several seizures and probably a stroke afterwards. We are going on four days after the operation, and she has not “woken up” so it doesn’t look good. She has a living will that specifies no feeding tube. My wife is really broken up about this, and the doctor wants to see “the entire family” on Monday. So, please, prayers for a miracle for...
  • Making Choices: Exploring The Tax Issue

October 20, 2004 Making Choices: Exploring The Tax Issue by Chris Edwards Chris Edwards is director of tax policy at the Cato Institute. Whether one supports or opposes President Bush, his policies are easy to understand because he chooses a course of action and sticks to it. Americans certainly know where Bush stands on taxes -- his string of five tax cuts in four years is unprecedented. Ronald Reagan is remembered as being a big tax cutter, but he only cut taxes once, in 1981, then enacted a series of tax increases in following years. Bush's tax cuts have provided...

I guess it would be for the best for me to first introduce my situation: at the moment, I'm a high school senior and currently in the running for the Navy Nursing Option ROTC Scholarship (as a matter of fact, my interview is tomorrow). I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on how to get myself prepared before going into college so as to get a good hold as to what I'll need to do to pursue a degree (and, later, a career) in nursing. Secondly, I am currently doing a school report on military nursing. The Senior Project,...

Yes, I'm a "Newbee". But I have been reading Free Republic for almost a year now. I recently started posting. I want to be a part of this Blog but don't want to do as so many Newbee's have done and not follow the rules. I think I have a grasp on HOW to post and WHERE to post. My question now is about some of the terms used. Hence: Bump,Ping..ect. Is there a list's of Free Republic...or ANY "Blog terminology" I can go to for these questions? Thanks.
  • Printer Help

Any tech junkies here? Hey folks. I had to do a clean restore on my computer. Now everythings fine except one thing. My printer which is an HP Photosmart 1000. I try using the product's installation CD and it won't auto start. So, when I go into my computer and the CD's contents and click install a noise comes up like a dialogue box opening and nothing happens. The same is true when I downloaded the product's software off the HP website. Anyone know what might be wrong? Thanks for any advice. PS, I'm running on Windows Millenium Edition.

Message from human resources where I work about the son of a co-worker: :I received a call from Neil this afternoon with an update on Kyle. It seems the aggressive treatment he received has not been successful. The cancer has spread to Kyle's pelvic area, kidney, (he only has 1) and there are more tumors on his lungs. It has not spread to his brain. The Dr.'s informed Kyle the tumors were winning. Kyle took the news in stride and optimistically told his Physician's he still will beat the cancer! His Dr.'s are looking for yet another experimental drug/procedure to...

Hello Free Republic. I’m new here and only found you guys thanks to Dan’s meltdown on the Tiffany Network. (And some people claim God doesn’t have a purpose in all things.) Regardless, there are some things I need help with and if any of you would take the time to instruct or lead me to instructions, I would appreciate it. How do you make paragraphs? I made these by writing into word and cutting and pasting. There has to be an easier way. How do you change fonts? What does vanity mean? How does a ping work? Any particular does...

  • Windows Update: Where are the files kept?

Windows Update, under Windows XP, seems to have changed with the advent of the newer looking feature. Under the older system, the updates were downloaded to the computer's hard drive under a temporary directory called "WUTEMP." Now under the newer (allegedly sleeker) interface I can't find the files as they are being downloaded. I absolutely hate the new Windows Update, but then again when Bill Gates do anything that pleases the masses on a whole. I used to be able to copy those downloads as they were being downloaded but now I can't do it cuz I can't find the...

I am trying to create a back-up of my hard drive (CD or floppy) in anticipation of some maintenance work on my laptop. I cannot find where to begin initiating the back-up process. I have linked to the MS web page that concerns my problem. My problem, specifically, is that I cannot find the Backup "tab" to click in my System Tools folder, as told to do so on the MS help page. It simply does not exist. I'm stumped.

I'm in NJ and it seems I will have to homeschool my youngest for Kindergarten. How do I get started? What do I need to know? I went surfing for homeschooling resources for New Jersey and I only came across a lot of advertisements for selling materials. Any help from the homeschool pros would be welcomed.
