IRAN and Syria have naively misconstrued the results of the recent mid-term elections to the US Congress. They think President Bush’s administration has become a lame duck in the aftermath of the victory of the Democrats. Syria and Iran believe this will limit the authority and influence of President Bush and the White House and that they have achieved victory in the Middle East, especially in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine.
