If Republican Jeb Bush's political contributions offer any signs, there's little doubt that the former Florida governor plans to seek the 2016 presidential nomination. More than half of the $122,800 Bush contributed Friday is going to candidates and state Republican Party organizations in the four states scheduled to begin the presidential voting next year. The candidates include Sen. Chuck Grassley and Rep. David Young of Iowa, Sen. Kelly Ayotte and Rep. Frank Guinta of New Hampshire, Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, and Rep. Joe Heck of Nevada.

Manchester (New Hampshire) Mayor Frank Guinta says he is considering a run for governor. The Republican says he is forming a political action committee which will allow him to raise money and explore the possibilities. Guinta says he has been approached by several people about taking his city tax cutting plans to the Statehouse. He says before making a commitment, he'll gauge his support and consider his ability to raise money and how a run would affect his family. Guinta says he'll file the paperwork to form the PAC on Monday. He's not planning a final decision for several months.

Manchester — Ward 3 alderman Frank Guinta has upset Manchester Mayor Robert Baines in the city’s mayoral contest, election results show. With all 12 of the city’s wards reporting, Guinta received 10,115 votes while Baines, the city’s three-term mayor, received 9,579 votes, according to unofficial results. The Republican alderman beat the Democrat mayor in a surprising victory, and Baines has conceded defeat. Voters in Laconia, for their part, enacted a city tax cap by a 1842-1708 margin.
